I don't like river bet. I'm quite sure you have got critique already too many times to count about betting too thinly OTR. Time to give 2 hours to study thin river bets? Imo, if you bet that small you need to insta sight call against aggressive player if he is giving you trouble and trust him to have Ax, annoying. Not sure if regular tables differ too much from zoom this to be true. Against passive player you can go easily for thin value imo. Without history, and only vpip/pfr this would be fold to me.

the river bet was due to some people calling with A high at this spot given the price.
But it is exploitable as was here by good players.
Any study material on thin river bets??

You've lost most on AK, don't play that so aggressively on those cards, if you miss the flop check or fold if anybody bet, you will save a lot of money! I don't like AK [emoji36]

Re the value bet to bluff ratio question you asked duggs. Wasnt there an upswing email in the last few weeks about this topic. I seem to remember it had gto in the title: 2 value bets for every bluff assuming villian is betting half pot on rivers.

yeah I'm reevaluating AK these days. But it's just too good to fold. Some players even shove middle pairs like 10s or 9s.
So it's more player dependant.

Hey Alucard,

Few thoughts just catching up over the weekend:

9d8d v QQ - I'm personally not a fan of squeezing from the CO with 98 as 1) Three to act before you're back to the original raiser, and 2) I hate UTG min raises. It's either real fishy or the sign of a monster. After that, money goes in with you better than 75%...sucks that 1/4 hit in this case but that's variance. Played it well post flop and know you did.

AA v 22 - Again, money went in as a 85% favourite, see nothing wrong with how the hand action went down...variance sucks. Nothing you did wrong so chalk that up to a +EV move long term

QdJd v ?? - That 1/2 pot river bet - did you call??

AA - Don't mind the shove - if they've got the Ks you don't want them drawing to it and I've seen a lot of people at 5NL bet hard draws like that. Having said that, if they hit the turn the shove would be wrong. Kind of interesting that they called the three bet pre and still lead out on the flop though.

AKd v Q9d - Agree on the four bet but I'm not sure that gets them off their hand. Unless your four bet was all in. SB only had 58BB back after the three bet, which leaves their SPR lesss than 2 with your call, leaving them with not a lot of fold equity. This is one of those hands that played out and the money was going in at some point. Do you have any info that would lead you to believe they'd fold to a four bet pre?

99 - if he had been giving you grief before, were you seeing their hole cards? I get it's weak, but getting that info going to showdown isn't always a bad thing, especially if you're seeing them again and again. With three pairs I'd lean to the check but again that's me. You don't want an emotional response to his check because he's been on you lately. Three pairs don't hold up often - get yours is the bigger pair but he easily could have a Q in his hand with a pre-flop raise.

97c - This feels like one of your hands but reversed no? Variance does catch up and I'm happy that finally you got paid off on one of these massive pots. What was going through your head though when they called the flop bet and you only paired on the turn??

Hey CR!!! Thanks for the input. Will explain what I'm thinking as well.

98s vs QQ

I don't think flatting is very optimal here. For one we could get squeezed big by an opponent from the blinds & would be forced to fold. And also we are giving them a very good price to see the flop with crap hands.
Also I'm trying to iso the UTG here cause MP flatting seems very weak. So I have position as well as a very polarised range 3betting big into two early positions.
Also suited connectors play really well post flop cause they don't usually have very tough spots against certain ranges.
ex- AK vs AQ.
Yeah sucks the board pairs in the river
BTW I flat sometimes considering the opponent & the player

QJs
I don't remember the hand so I think not

AA
I feel the shove was wrong due to there's a FD on board. So the V will fold out most possible hands including perhaps low sets (which I don't think they've) but specially ace highs. I'm leaving 50BB for him that if played correctly with a V bet on river could've been mine

AKvs Q9
Don't think that he would've called a 4bet. SB has 85BB behind. Most likely a squeeze to TID pre. Crappy hand

99
yeah. Feels it was against the wrong player.

97
After the 9 hits I have showdown value so wanted to go out cheaply but FD rivered and got the maximum. 200BB+. I'll happily take it :D
BTW he has been 3betting a lot. But seems to have good hands. at least vs me
There was a 3 way all in where him & another player was shortstacked & I had AK.
He had kings while the other guy had 4s. 4s wne catching a FD lol

One of the first poker books I read was by Dan Harrington in which he advocated folding AK in the blinds if there had been a raise and a 3bet in front of you. Particularly if the players involved where tight. I usually fold pre here in full ring not so sure about 6 max off of their stats but yep you dodged a bullet there.

bluffing to get KK out of the hand, is quite extreme way of thinking this. I would go as far as saying it’s completely wrong and closer of fish thinking. You have practically 2nd nuts (if we disregard all Ax hands that will call) the need to bluff with this hand should be negligible. Interested what others say.

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Qd Jd
fold, fold, CO raises to 3 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, fold, BB calls 9 BB, fold

Imo this was very good fold. I most likely would fail to do this, a big leak of mine.

A special one. No clue why I bet this big. He's a bit loose but the shove makes very little sense to me.

I actually picked this up from Duggsy. After seeing him making some risky moves. Not sure if it's right or wrong. Just wanted to try it out.
