Had a strong 4-hour session of 4-tabling tonight over at Party Poker (that's about 800 hands, in case you're counting) split between Stud H/L and PL Omaha H/L (up over $125, with another $100 on the way after 200 more raked hands) - this was by far the best hand of the evening:

***** Hand History for Game 4687791555 *****
0/0 Omaha Game Table (PL) - Sun Jul 09 01:13:07 EDT 2006
Table Clover Club (No DP) (real money) -- Seat 6 is the button
Total number of players : 10
Seat 1: FLgatorPJ ( $25)
Seat 2: Hero ( $29.89)
Seat 3: nolablue ( $23.27)
Seat 4: jastackhouse ( $23.25)
Seat 5: AsKsAcKc ( $27.95)
Seat 6: hellcore ( $26.19)
Seat 7: Leobaby111 ( $12.22)
Seat 8: Jackpotslim ( $22.30)
Seat 9: Squaz22 ( $10.70)
Seat 10: wphgoodday ( $8.84)
Leobaby111 posts small blind (0.10)
Jackpotslim posts big blind (0.25)
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to Hero [ 2c, Ac, 5h, Jh ] – A nut low, 3 to a wheel, and nut flush is always an automatic limp-in, and sometimes worthy of a raise, in PL Omaha/8
Squaz22 folds.
wphgoodday folds.
Hero calls (0.25) - I like to see cheap flops in this game...any raises I like from late position
jastackhouse calls (0.25)
AsKsAcKc raises (1.35) to 1.35 This guy raised a lot with high pairs/high suited connectors - in a split game I'll want at least 1 or 2 callers to give me proper pot odds to play it
hellcore calls (1.35)
Leobaby111 calls (1.25)
Jackpotslim calls (1.10)
Hero calls (1.10)
jastackhouse calls (1.10)
** Dealing Flop ** : [ 2s, 2d, 8s ] Flopped trips, and I’m raiser doesn’t have a deuce...since I'm sure I have best hand, and a chance to scoop, I'll let AsKs do the betting and hopefully thin the field out
Leobaby111 checks.
Jackpotslim checks.
Hero checks.
jastackhouse checks.
AsKsAcKc bets (7.70)
hellcore folds.
Leobaby111 folds.
Jackpotslim folds.
Hero raises (28.54) to 28.54 I thought about what to do for a few seconds here...calling is not the right play, and I'm positive I'll have the best low draw, at the very worst. Since I'm most likely ahead for high hand (remember, I said AsKs raises with high cards, a deuce in his hand is very unlikely), let's hammer this pot and go for the scoop
Hero is all-In.
jastackhouse folds.
AsKsAcKc calls (18.90)
AsKsAcKc is all-In.
** Dealing Turn ** : [ 9c ]
** Dealing River ** : [ 7h ]
Creating Main Pot with $58.30 with AsKsAcKc
Creating Side Pot 1 with $1.94 with Hero
** Summary **
Main Pot: $58.30 | Side Pot 1: $1.94 | Rake: $3
Board: [ 2s 2d 8s 9c 7h ]

FLgatorPJ balance $25, sits out
Hero balance $60.24, bet $29.89, collected $60.24, net +$30.35 [ 2c Ac 5h Jh ] [ three of a kind, twos -- Ac,9c,2c,2s,2d ]
nolablue balance $23.27, sits out
jastackhouse balance $21.90, lost $1.35 (folded)
AsKsAcKc balance $0, lost $27.95 [ Qd Kd Ks Js ] [ two pairs, kings and twos -- Kd,Ks,9c,2s,2d ] Very much right this time...great to be right!
hellcore balance $24.84, lost $1.35 (folded)
Leobaby111 balance $10.87, lost $1.35 (folded)
Jackpotslim balance $20.95, lost $1.35 (folded)
Squaz22 balance $10.70, didn't bet (folded)
wphgoodday balance $8.84, didn't bet (folded)

O/8 players, flame away!

I dunno enough about Omaha to really talk I think, but from what you've said, if your reads on the guy were spot on (and certainly it looks that way), then I think you played it to a T.

I'm certainly no expert in this game, but at these low limit games pot-sized bets typically scream "I'm trying to buy the pot!" with either snow or draws - "value bets" are almost non-existent here.

The hand your opponent played is a horrible hand for Omaha Hi/Lo. Sure, he probably would have a great chance for the high but almost no chance for the low for the scoop.

Actually, I half disagree. Periodically, playing a high-only hand is not only a way to disguise your hole cards later ("oh, that guy only sees a flop with an A2XX"), but if there are 2-3 high cards on the flop it can have a great chance to scoop.

I wouldn't play them too often, but I'd definitely play a few periodically.
