This is a high stakes game, where the bluffs and values are much more refined. Understand these types of hands requires study and discipline. However, applying that superior reasoning in medium and low stakes is incorrect, since the players in those fields do not think that way. Also this is a hand from a live game, where also be must considered the specific tells, etc.

Anytime you have the bottom full house, and a good player is betting heavily into you with the Ace paired on the board, there is a very good chance that you're up against a bigger boat.

Chan was known for being a nit, and this is almost certainly why, Phil was able to make such a quick decision and fold the baby boat. From the speed of his action it seem like, he had thought it through, already before he raised, and decided to go for a bet-fold. This is something, you can probably still get away with in some very soft low stakes live games, but in high stakes games no regular players are as unbalanced today, as Chan was back then.
