$4 NL HE 6-max: A set but facing mucho scary board

(No HH available)

I got 44 on BB. Three limpers. I check.

K46 on flop with 2 hearts.

I lead out with a bet of 12c into 16c. All fold except MP who calls.

Turn is the 7 of hearts. I bet 30c into 40c pot. He calls again.

The river is 5 of spades which makes the board 4567K with 3 hearts.

I check with the intention of calling. But he bets pot size. Is he bluffing here? I think he either made his flush or is just bluffing. I am not so worried about the straight unless he was calling with 88.

No read on opponent.

In a situation like this where I fear my hand wont hold up and villain has displayed strength (by calling) throughout, I would make a strong-ish bet with the intention of folding to a raise. Say bet 1/2 to 2/3 the pot but make it look as much as possible. so if the pot is $1.75 I would bet 90c.

Do this with the intention of folding to a raise and stick to it.

Remember that if you bet and call a raise on the river or merely check-call OOP you may as well have bet the entire amount paid to begin with and given yourself more fold equity!

The way I look at it is if the board is scary and it doesnt scare him, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE BET INTO HIM ALL THE WAY AND ON THE RIVER, then he has you beat 95% of the time... specially at 4NL.

I'd probably check/ call turn and check/fold river unless the bet is small
