$10 NL HE Full Ring: Rush bb range and pot control versus max value

full tilt poker $0.05/$0.10 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players - http://www.thehandconverter.com/hands/887951

BB: $15.39
UTG: $7.51
UTG+1: $25.33
UTG+2: $10.67
Hero (MP1): $31.32
MP2: $4.04
CO: $6.83
BTN: $6.38
SB: $10.30

Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is MP1 with Qd Qh
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.10, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.45, 4 folds, BB calls $0.35, UTG+1 calls $0.35

Flop: ($1.40) Qc 8s 9c (3 players)
BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero bets $1.20, BB calls $1.20, UTG+1 folds

Turn: ($3.80) 5d (2 players)
BB bets $2.65, Hero calls $2.65

River: ($9.10) Kc (2 players)
BB bets $9.10, Hero folds

My reasoning for my turn call was that the bb, who had 15 dollars, or 5 dollars more than max buy in, flat called both preflop and on flop a raise or bet from a 31 dollar stack(3x max buy in) with a 25 dollar stack(2.5x max buy in) to act after. The range I put bb on was a lower set j10, 107 76 or a flush draw. For any of those my gut was telling me I could not get the bb to fold and went for pot control. Then my gut told me I was second best on river so I folded. Thoughts?
