I was playing in a tournament on ACR the other day. I was on a table where TWO people ran the time clock to zero EVERY time it was their turn to play. This turned the game into a boring and tedious game. I am happy to say I outlasted both of them. I contacted ACR about their play but their response was they could not/would not do anything about it. All I had asked ACR to do was to notify these players about their slow play. Slow play is addressed in other game/sports ie golf, baseball. What do you think can be done about jerks like these two players?

To me, this is a very big stress too) I hate when people like this come across the table. This is a big influence on my game and I am more often mistaken, there is nothing I can do about it.This is some kind of anti-poker and the impression that people who do it are offended by the whole world or by poker itself.

Poker is like martial arts. You need to stay calm, exploit your opponents weaknesses, and turn their agression against them. In other words, adjust or you'll fail.

Its annoying when players do this every hand although I will admit I do run the clock down during the bubble periods if I am low. There is nothing you can do other than notice when they run the clock down they are trying to achieve something and that something is to get further in the tournament. That means they wont call post flop at all and rarely pre. You can eat them alive any hand you are in with them by betting and also look at them as a blind stealing opportunity when they are in the blinds.

Nothing to do about that, they have their time and they can do anything with it. Yes, it can be frustrating, but who knows why they doing that. Maybe they play on who knows how many tables, maybe they at work, doing some other stuffs.... or maybe they are just donks

The bad use of the time to act or the time bank by some people really sucks , but it's part of the game , you have to deal with it and go on with your games :)

There isn't anything wrong with it. Also, I'm sure they kept it up if you said anything in the chat about it. Patiently wait your turn . HUDs can track how long it takes for a player to act and what cards they show when they snap , or think for a min before calling.

Its actually a great way to keep the HUDs confused on ranges when someone snap calls or tanks.

You are likely an agrrssive player who doesn't think long before acting. Maybe there is something to be learned here instead of complaining to the board or Customer Service about it.

At least online games have a clock. I have been at a casino when someone spends a few minutes think. I have even sat for like 3 or 4 minutes thinking about a decision at a casino before.
Slow plays can be frustrating but it is a part of the game. I see nothing wrong with it. If anything it should help you practice patience.
Dont let it tilt you.

????

in fact they are within the rules of the house .. if the tournament has a time bank that the house provides it is to be used ... I don't understand your complaint ... did you still send a message to ACR?

You can’t do anything with them, it’s their right to use the time allotted for the game, as they consider it necessary.

The annoying thing is that it lacks in sportsmanship, but there's nothing against it, unfortunately that's that the time clock was invented for...

To answer your question though OP, and it ain't the answer you want to hear, but nothing... :(

Its important in poker to focus on, what we control, and not get distracted or annoyed by things, we dont control. So if slow players annoy you, maybe play more tables, so you are not just sitting and waiting for someone to run down his clock. Or maybe play faster games like heads up SnGs, Spin n Gos or Zoom poker. I think, there are also some poker sites, where players get less time to act in a turbo tournament than a regular tournament.

I have noticed that as well. And yeah. It does seem a bit unnessesary to use such methods just to increase the chance of min-cashing for 75c in a tournament, that was free to enter :)

For those annoyed with the slow play, it makes sense that the poker player has succeeded in taking you out of your game. good luck oh I mean good random!

There is no right or wrong in poker!
Nothing needs to be done, friend, from the moment you entered the tournament, you paid the entry, you have every right to play as you wish.
If you don't have the patience to wait a few seconds to review your concepts, poker requires patience.

This gets brought up on here all the time. It’s going to happen, some people see it as a strategy to help them get into the money and still keep as many chips as possible when the bubble bust. Just relax and see it as them helping you get past the bubble too because there is zero you can do about it.

I can't stand them, they ruin the game for everyone at the table including themselves.
Actual photo of one of them playing poker.
