re: Poker & live is so much harder
Beyond a doubt, LIVE is THE way to go! At least, in my eyes it is! Here is why: Tells, tells, tells! And more tells!
There are few online, live is just absolutely chock full. And if you are at a table where everyone looks at their cards as soon as they get them, that alone is a tell!
Live, after a hand, you can ask someone why they did a certain thing, and they will more than likely tell you. This can be a goldmine of info on how they play.
Their are guys who just have to talk during a hand, trying to get info on you, another great tell! Often, you can deduce how weak they are, because they are desperate for info. If they constantly ask questions, but then go quiet, chances are good they are very strong.
The "Evil Eye". Sometimes after you raise or bet, your opponent will stare at you like he wants to punch you...again, if he were strong, he probably would not, so chances are he is weak.
Plus, you can reverse this. In just about every live game their is at least ONE person looking intently for tells from every player. If you notice this guy, you can actually use this against them by giving a "tell" yourself. When you got a monster, if you slow down a bit before calling and "inadvertently" show your jugular and reluctantly put the call in (Don't overdo it, or "hollywood" it) this "pro" might think you are on a draw and try to bluff you. Then, you got him!
I could go on, but I think you get the point! Live games rock! Why else would the WSOP main event be live? It would be cheaper and far easier to move it online.
