While playing micro tables I often encounter somebody with like over 200 x BB or more -- you know the types, they've been there all day collecting small pots.

Now, sometimes these guys decide they don't want to let you see any hands and they go all-in. But since they do it so often it is really quite impossible to know what they have.

How does one play against these people (short of just leaving the table). Keep in mind:
1. they tend to do this a lot pre-flop if more than 1 person calls, thus you can't just fold hands when they call
2. even though you have a good hand (even post-flop) calling means going all-in
3. pot odds never help since you *never* know what the guy has

Is this a situation where short stacking could be effective? If he's raising pretty loose all-in maybe buy in for less and look for a spot to punish. Then again I was recently told in another thread on here that short stacking is not profitable in the micros so I may be dishing terrible advice here.

I recently began playing the micro tables and have encountered these guys too. I'd like to hear what others have to say on the subject.

Some of these players are willing to let it go after they get re-popped, so you just need to observe his play and pick your spots. If that is not the case you just have to wait for a hand and trap him.

micro games, from what I've heard are pretty funny. I've heard of a story where someone had $9K at 1 / 2 cent nlhe, which is quite disgusting because the person must have been sitting there for a very long amount of time, even more than I can handle (which is around 4-6 hours) if someone does get a big stack and bullies, find a suitable range and in most cases, get it in preflop. if enough people play like that, the big stack will either be forced to leave, or keep taking hits since your range is +EV against him.

First off you should have enough in your bankroll to cover a few loses at the table. On micro tables you should watch the table before playing. If you see a bully like that I would buy in for min. and have a go at him. You will get your info that you need in that one hand. Then I would buy in for the max. Then take him to the cleaners.

Best thing you can do is wait for the best time to get your chips in and hope for the best...
If odds are on your side you can double up off an opponent like this because they are generally raising with 'any' 2 cards... I've encountered this many time playing micro games. Thats pretty much all i play based on my built bankroll.
I tend to look for the table with the big stacked chip bully because a tight game will generally catch you a double up or 2..
If you can double up a couple of times off of a chip bully they tend to tighten up real quick..
Earlier today i sat down at a 2/4c NL with a rather large stacked chip bully doing all the classic things...
so i waited, i bought in with $1 and just sat and watched... The blinds took me down to about .42c before i saw a good hand...ofcourse the bully was still on the rampage so i played my KK all in and cought the double up.... and i cought the streak of good hands and went back to back all in on the chip bully 4 times bringing my stack up from $1 to $7 and ofcourse the chip bully left the table real quick after that lol suprise suprise....Punch a bully in the mouth and they go crying to mommy lol

Good luck on the felt all

Hey, thanks guys. I think I'll go try this. Just sit an wait for a perfect hand and call.

Just to make it more fun I'll search the tables to see how often I can find the same guy and play at all of his tables. :)

If u do stay at the table, ur going to have to wait for the top three or four hands to move in with, I love playing against those kind of players, most of the time they have small pair or a dirty A and they are drawing dead to my big pair.

Patience..
Catch a hand and usually any PP
Hopefully you have position on him and raise and wait for the re-raise from him to call it will come.
They usually play any two cards J and over no matter of the kicker.

They are really great to build you stack off, but they wreck the game for everyone at the table.

Once they lose a few hands they will leave and find a new table... Follow them.. hahaha

Yes, I think the best move in these situations is to wait for a power hand and call his all-in, hoping to double up. I know it's tough when they raise on EVERY hand, but you'll get slowly eaten alive if you keep trying to simply call and hit a flop when he DOESN'T go all in...

Any PP? so you understand the bully's j9 is flipping coins with your 88, right? I'd want at least pocket 10's against the bully. I am happily folding 6's or lower.

It is not to hard to nail them... Wait for a great hand and pounce on him....
I took care of one just like that, with what has been said here.

Either wait patiently for a monster and double up or just find another table. There's lots to choose from.

i'd be more than happy to flip coins! with the money already in the pot with the blinds and the fact im more likely to win the "flip" make this a +EV play. and also i try to put them on a range of hands and figure my EV vs. that range. if hes shoving ATC i snap call w/the top 1/3 of my holdings.

Wait for hands and bust them and if you dont have the patience to be waiting on hands you should just switch tables bc when someone has 200 times the bb or more they really dont care about throwing in 10 or 15 dollars when they have 30 or 40 in front of them and blinds at only 5 and 10 cents. either leave the table or wait for hands.
