OK, the thread title says it all. Ive been playing online for money about 2 months, played 4 fun 4 month b4 that (started with the standard 1000 play stack, got up to over 85k and thought, time to invest I am a good player now lol). An initial investment of $90, 3o FT, 30 PKR and 30 bodog, I now am at 150 total investment, total BR left:30 - up from 11, when I started taking part in forums here. First off I want to thank everyone here at CC, cause this site rocks totally!! in the two weeks or less I have been here, my way of thinking and approaching the game have changed such that my winning is small but now consistent. I know, much too short to really say is it me or circumstance, but I do believe it has a lot to do with the strategy tips I put into use, and my honesty about how I really stand as a player. Years ago I was a dedicated martial arts student, and I was successful in a number of tournaments. I remember when I first started my training, one of the Instructors made a comment that I never will forget, and I learned the hard way that it applies to poker as well :"The only thing worse than having no knowledge at all, is having a little knowledge." Probably most of you seasoned players who may have stumbled across this are chuckling, cause u know what I mean. The reason this is true (which I should have known, but had to learn AGAIN!!) is he who has no knowledge, is probably aware that he has no knowledge. He who has just learned his first technique, and used it with positive results, feels he is KING and cannot be beaten, and is ready to take on anyone anytime. Dangerous thinking. I have played some local pub tournaments and won 50 Euros and thought I was so good.I was lucky, most players had been drinking - me as well - but wining makes you think you r good. I had luck online as well, and went from 5nl (cent) to 50 nl and lost most of my money almost immediately. I had read a book, a few articles and was so sure of my ability that I did not need to wait to go get em, till they got me lol. Poorer and wiser, I am now a humble student willing to admit that my knowledge is limited and my experience minute. And there lies my strength!!! I am now in the incredibly lucky position to be able to start improving, learning, and advancing as I better my game, plug my leaks, and am more able to tell the difference between a bad beat and a bad play. Most of my losses are my fault, but I now see them as learning tools, if I only know how 2 apply them. And apply them I will!!
C U on the felt!!!
