What steps should I take when analyzing a hand? Should I start by running the hole cards through Pokerstove versus a range of opponents and then calculate the EV on the flop and subsequent streets or are there other parameters I should be looking at?
Please assume in your answer that I am a complete beginner at this sort of thing and not particularly mathematical. I wrote a program to calculate EV based on the formula in the pot odds article here and understand it but I am nowhere near being able to do the calculation in my head.
I would guess that a hand should have 50+% equity in Pokerstove and a positive EV to be a correct play from a purely statistical standpoint?
