Im experimenting with different ways to play a pair of aces but Im wondering if I should be slow playing them or not. More times than not im in ok position and I am usually a tight aggressive player but it seems every time I try to put all my chips in and catch a donk-lackin everyone folds. Id like to get the most value from my hand but i seem to just be scooping up a few blinds. Im doing this on free rolls so the players are wild as hell for the most part. Any tips or advice will be very much appreciated.
Freerolls are bingo so don't feel too bad. You should be raising a standard amount 2-3bbs for every hand so an observant villain won't be able to distinguish your suited connector from your monster pair. So my advice is to raise 3 bbs with aces, if people limp raise another 1 or 2 big blinds per limiter. If someone raises, 3bet the pot, making sure the persons who bet dont have great
odds because they'll call ATC for the right odds. The idea is to 1) extract value 2) isolate the field (AA is only 80% favorite to win against a single person) and 3) follow the opponents story and know when you're beat .
Eg: you are handed aces in cutoff position, 9 handed table, let's say even stacks. Utg+1 calls UTG+2 raises 5 bbs making the pot about 7.5 bbs and it folds to you. Id be raising the pot. Now utg+1 folds flop is K 9 T utg checks you raise 75% the pot, villain calls turn is j and villain raises time to gtfo because your 80% just became 8% as QA is fit right into villains range. This all connects with observing and categorizing opponents based on play style.
