last week, i played the nooner turbo at the casino and in level 2, i got A J c, and the flop saw two clubs. there was a bet, then a marginal raise. i mucked it, orig. better folded and the raisr turned over pocket queens. when i said i had a j , the player two my right told me i should have shoved and three others agreed. if i was short, i def. would have but it being only the second level, i didnt want to risk tourney life on a draw.

Taking advice from your competition seems like a good way to lose your money. For what it's worth, liked your decision.

Agree with this, why risk your tourny life so early on a draw that may fail, your better off waiting till you hit the flush and make it look like that card scared you, it almost always gets a shove when you check it on the turn.

What is a marginal raise, it they are letting you see the next card cheap I would call.

I also don't mind the fold either.

Agree that it's not worth your tournament life this early and don't take advice from the same people trying to take your money. Now like zorba said if you are getting a fair price to call and try to hit a club then go for it.

Would like to know stacks, bets and player tendencies in this spot.

No need to shove here unnecessarily. If the 3bet wasn't too big, it doesn't hurt to call and have a look at the turn and see if you make your flush. You can call one more time if the bet isn't big since the blinds are still small and then re-raise on the river to win the pot.

You were correct not to shove in this scenario. Against a bet and a raise, you will usually be dominated by a higher overcard, a pocket pair, or even a set. Calling could be a viable option, but you were likely not getting the correct pot odds to call. The only time it would be profitable to get your whole stack into the pot is if you were super short stacked. In the end, you should wait for a better spot.

Not sure on Live Poker, but really dependent on the situation and the player. If he is opening wide there and seems to be aggro with short stack, it's a good spot to shove.

You also have the option of just flatting the bet and go from there. I think it would be best to flat and see the turn especially this early in the tournament.. you don't want to get in big pots unless you hold the nuts.. and you have the best draw possible.. so I'd flat and go from there obviously.

A lot of recreational players will fire that standard CB to protect bigger hands that missed, and will check the turn and you can fire a half pot sized bet and they'll muck. Just keep that possibility for you.

Is it a re-entry/re-buy MTT?
What were stack sizes and blinds?
How fast do blinds go up?
What was preflop action?

Get it in there, it's a live turbo.

It would also be nice to know stacks, positions, actions, reads, and which cards are on the flop

AJs is about 45% against qq with 2 clubs on the flop
AcJc is about 54% favorite vs QhQd if the board is 5c4c3s
Gutshots and backdoor draws matter. Hero can't know preflop, but it also helps with QQ no Qc

Since it sounds like the marginal raise was a low amount, I would have called to see the turn. If no club or ace on the turn, depending on the bet, small I call to see the river, hoping for the club, big bet I fold, and wait for another hand to make my move.

At that stage in tournament i think you made right play if you are looking to survive and wait for a better spot. I do not know the buy-in or what not, but in that position unless you have a read a fold is the right play. I play to make chips so since i do not know chip stack starting points, it is hard. How did you wind up doin??
