Ok, heres what we have....This is only 3rd hand villain has been in since at table. Other 2 hands hes been in were of AQo and QJs. I know hes playing fairly solid cards. When I see flop I dont put him on a set, due to no raise pre on his part. Figured he was betting his over cards, post flop and I felt my 2 overs were best hand. My options to play this better, pre flop raise or all-in and fold the flop when he bets out, but seriously didnt put him on anything but 2 overs.

Personally, I would have raised 4X BB. That would give you a much better idea about where your opponents are at it the hand.

Villian playing 35s in MP is pretty loose, but he does have a pretty big stack so maybe he's looking at a few more hands than usual. You also saw him play QJs so he likes the higher suited connectors - apparently he likes the lower ones too.

I guess the point is by just calling you have absolutely no idea where you stand...not a good thing when you are out of position. I think with a decent raise you take this one down preflop.

Raised PF to 600, 4BB+2 Callers, AK is a very strong hand especially in the Blinds but you will be out of position.

Limping usually indicates Ax suited, Small PP, or suited connecters for thinking players. Sure people will limp all kinds of garbage and will also limp AA or KK sometimes but that is why you are raising here.

As for the Flop, you wiffed the flop, you have a gut shot straight draw, a back door flush draw and two overs. You should just fold, especially since you limped in and don't have much invested.

The way you played this hand is exactly why people limp small PP.

You have to raise this hand pre-flop - AK suited is a group one hand - against pre-flop limpers would probably be the best hand pre-flop. A good size raise 3-4x BB would chase away smaller pockets and you would get called by AJ-AK and raised by JJ-AA -

Now you know where you stand in the hand. Limping gave all sorts of hands the chance to hit. Which this time it did.

After he led out after the flop you need to let go of the hand.

^^^^^

You got all of your chips in as a 3:1 favorite...unfortunately the other guy caught one of his outs.

The villain has tripled up pretty early in the tournament and has made an overly large raise in this hand...so I'd guess he was playing pretty LAG. Some might question putting all of your chips at risk that early in the tournament, but against a LAG opponent I think it's the right call.

This is a bad beat, pure and simple and belongs in that thread. (I have always wanted to say that considering I put bad beats in for analysis too) :)

What you want to hear is that you played it correctly and that things will even out as long as you keep getting your chips in with the best hand.
