Hi, I'm new to this forum and have learnt a lot so far through this site, I just wanted to put this hand, which i have just played, forward to the jury to see if i am actually improving or if i'm just getting luckier :) I personally thought that i done well and was quite pleased with myself but i want a second opinion!

Caperider had the biggest stack with 1haris1 not far behind him, i couldn't get a read on cape at all, his play was all over the place, probably explaining his lead! haris was being quite loose aggressive. I (orangepeeleo of course) had been playing quite tight as this was only my 6th hand or something like that and i was still trying to get a feel for the table.
The table was a 0.05/0.10 NL 6 seated cash game.

> Game # 1,312,567,521 starting.
> Dealing Hole Cards(Ad 8d )
> pascal825 folded
> orangepeeleo called for $0.10
> fire-proof folded
> 1Haris1 called for $0.10
> punk_chn called for $0.05
> caperider1 checked
> Dealing the Flop(Kh 6d 5d )
> punk_chn checked
> caperider1 checked
> orangepeeleo checked
> 1Haris1 bet for $0.40
> punk_chn folded
> caperider1 called for $0.40
> orangepeeleo called for $0.40
> Dealing the turn(7s )
> caperider1 checked

At this point i was quite happy because although i don't have a major understanding of pot odds, I understand 'outs' and by my reckoning at this point i had a lot of them, the flush and straight possibilitys plus the chance of pairing my ace which i thought would be enough to win it.
So.......

> orangepeeleo went all-in for $2.92
> 1Haris1 called for $2.92
> caperider1, you have 10 seconds to respond
> caperider1 folded
> Dealing the river(10d )
> orangepeeleo shows a Flush, Diamonds
(Ad 10d 8d 6d 5d )
> 1Haris1 mucked
> orangepeeleo wins $7.14 with a Flush, Diamonds

:) I won, but I'm not too sure if this was good play or complete luck, any advice/crit would be much appreciated, thank you.

Personally, I think the all-in was a bit over-the-top as a check raise. You were risking it all on a draw. Perhaps a standard re-reaise of $1.20 might have scared him off, where as your all-in (as many all in's do) has a ring of 'drawing' attached. In which case he is calling with a K.

Hello.

Firstly NH.)

Info 1) On the Flop Harris bets, which indicates that he is trying to protect the King. ( Eg he has a pair of kings ). he could of course have a straight/flush draw. My Money is on a King ( or another pair)

Info 2) Bythe time you Go All-in on the turn, there is now potential Straight on the board.

Hence the only way you are likely to get called is with King Pair, 2 pair, trips or Straight. I doubt someone will call with a non Ace high flush draw.

Your straight draw may already be dead.

The good thing is that you bet. This means that you have two chances to win. ( he folds the bet or you pick up a card on the river).

That said assuming that a caller will have a K pair or better then you are big favourite to lose the hand if you get called. ( Most of these hands give you less than 40% chance). If you think the person will fold more than say 30% of the time its not the worst play in the book, however

If you want to bet, The advice I would give is that you can bet less and still have two chances to win. Eg a $1.20 Bet could save you 1.72 if you hit nothing and you still have a similar chance of the guy folding to a pot sized bet to an All-in. ( in fact an all-in actually weakens the perception to some people - eg why would you bet "all in" if you had a strong/made hand. If you had a made hand you would try to milk the person not sufficate them).

On the other hand, if you check then you may get the next card for free. If he bets .50 then you are getting good pot odds to call. ( and great implied odds )

Different ways of playing. Me personally I woul bet 3/4's pot. Rightly or wrongly.
