This is a discussion on $50 NLHE 6-max: Fold a straight on the river to a check raise? within the online poker forums, in the Cash Game Hand Analysis section; PokerStars - $0.50 NL FAST (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
BTN: 160.58 BB (VPIP: 15.38, PFR: 7.69, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 13)
SB: 95.5 BB
River:(29.36 BB, 2 players) 4♥ SB checks, Hero bets 25.66 BB, SB raises to 81.32 BB and is all-in, Hero calls 55.66 BB
I lead out preflop, flop and turn. The river completes my straight draw on a paired board.
I decide to value bet this hand as it is more likely that the villain has a over pair then that he has a full house. The villain however check raises me, putting me in a difficult spot.
Is this a mistake?
AA-KK would likely 3 bet preflop and also not likely to check raise me on a one card to a straight board. Other high pairs have good showdown value so not likely.
1) Missed flush draws (as I have two of them K7 not many of them exist that will call from the SB) preflop
2) Other straight either like 67, 77 or 78s - Not all might check raise here.
3) Full houses well all of them could have made this line
So in the aftermath I think I should have folded although it is only 56 BB more in a 132 BB pot (raked pot) giving me excellent pot-odds.
Wish I would have ....

I'm folding preflop
also folding river at zoom stars without good reads. Probably not gonna bet that much on river as well. But not too small cause he could jam a 6 as well exploitatively.
His SB flatting range is very small pp heavy as well.

Hardly to say dude these sb- bb fights are Always strange. I personally try to no commit too much when that happens even if i think the sb is bluffing.
