Merge - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

SB: $9.90
BB: $10.15
UTG: $10.00
MP: $27.44
CO: $10.34
Hero (BTN): $13.40

SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has 7 7

fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.30, SB raises to $0.90, fold, Hero calls $0.60

Flop: ($1.90, 2 players) Q Q K
SB bets $1.10, fold

Villain is 27/17 over 48 hands (my first time playing with him).

Notable is that he's got a 14% 3bet preflop stat and a 50% fold to steal.

I believed he was a light 3better and it was worth seeing the flop.

After that, I didn't have a plan (and I'm working on having better plans for my hands) and his bet on the flop, OOP, ended my involvement in the hand.

Was it a good idea to call the 3bet? Bad idea without a plan for the flop?
Good fold? I don't see how a call or a raise would have been a good move.

Cbet stat is 0 after 3 opportunities. So this is a usual move for him, at least as far as the limited sample shows.

As to the range, I'm not enough in the habit of assigning ranges. My thinking involves figuring that he's 3betting PF light but is cbetting with something. Any my 77 don't beat much more than a bluff with not much likelihood of improvement with this flop.

Get in the habit of assigning range!!
This is the only way to learn how to play a hand, how much to bet, should we fold, should we raise etc.
So why did you call the raise?

Fold pre your 3b stat means nothing over 48 hands and even so 77 isn't the hand you're using to bluff catch.
Also there is no point calling pre if you're going to fold to a standard cbet as that's just burning money.

Let it pre is probably best. In an actual game I'd 4-bet it like a boss though.

4betting a mid pair/a depolarized range i don't like itat all unless i have a damn good reason.
But this is BTN vs BB and in general it's a dick swinging contest.

Hmmm???

Maybe that's why I had trouble with this hand...;)

Yea I don't think it's good either, it's just what I do. Also I'm used to 4-bet jamming these hands.

Oh and in my previous comment I wrote "let it pre" I meant to write "let it go pre". Missed the word go out when I typed.

If you each have about 130 BBs and the 3-bettor was a nit you could call profitably -- i.e. stacks are deeper so you are getting better odds overall to call to set mine and villain's range will be stronger so more likely to stack off when you hit.

here it's a pretty standard fold to be honest, unless he plays really weak tight postflop.

Fold pre. Don't hate the call as the raise is small but I'd want 99 or a converged tight 3bet stat (set mine for the latter) before I start calling.

Insta-fold flop. 2 overcards have come down and they're ones that hit his range well. Our hand can only stand one round of betting even when he does bluff
