I thought I was helping max it out against a second best high. I didn't see the low draw coming. Was I wrong to be maxing it here where I had a low, the one looked high, and the other was at best chasing a low as far as worries about lows go. Once another low was possible should I have just checked/called the river bets?

I don’t like a complete with ur hand (that was suggested)because the 5 is out and A24 is hard to turn into a str8 cuz its a one way str8 with the ace. U also have a 4 in the door so if u raise even a beginner would more likely to put u on a low hand than a hidden pair. So ur tipping ur hand with a complete.

The 8 is actually an awful card for u because it gives u the worst possible low hand and it doesn’t help with an low str8 to take the hi. Also, if u think u have the low locked up like u thought there, u might want to show a little restraint and not go crazy pushing ppl out of the pot with ur excessive reraises to get more money later. the reraise on the 8 were really bad.

If u think ur gonna split the pot why would u reraise on the river, especially when 1 bet would not justify a fold by ur opponent by the pot odds?

It’s a razz hand and its an 8, its not a good hand. beginners are more prone to play lo razz hands than hi hands in stud8, I have no idea why especially since ur at best playing for only half the pot. If the person has any lo cards showing even with paint id put em more likely on low draw than a hi pair. These are the same ppl that think theyre good by calling A4K(whatever two lo cards with paint in the door) against a lo card complete in razz.

If ur serious about playing stud8 u gotta have a copy of Ray Zees hi/lo book. And for gods sake don’t watch the Full tilt Academy stud8 video where the kid tells u to complete with an ace in the door. Maybe ppl would fold at really high stakes but not at the lower ones.

If u need help with stud8 odds try http://www.turningriver.com/7-card-stud-hiLow.html

It’s a program to look up whether u were “right or not”. Lolol
It’s a good program, it gives stats to get the hi,lo and scoop. But u gotta use the zoom function to see everything.

I agree with a complete on third street. I don't mind how you played the hand, guy had to be perfect underneath to beat your low, and he got lucky and did it. Nothing you can do. However, I only agree with how you played this hand because it was 3 way. Had this been head's up it would've been horrible all throughout.

Although I don't typically endorse resurrecting 8 year old threads, for Stud 8 I'll happily do so.

Cap 5th and 6th; just get to showdown on 7th.
