Ok i was at pool hall just for some quick poker. buy in is 50 dollars causes its just a friendly game. well i get pocket 2s first hand. i raise to 5 someone reraises to 10. i just call. flop comes Ace Ace 2. well i hit a boat.... but this guy raises me flop. so i lead out as im first to act i bet 10 he goes all in for his other 30... of course i call. he has ak. it ends up turn is a 5 and river is a 5 and he beats me with a higher boat. do u think i played this right and just got unlucky? i mean i figured he had a ace.. but what u think?

You committed 1/5 of your stack preflop with 22. That was a mistake. But once you hit the boat you want to get your money in the pot. You were ahead, and he sucked out. It happens, it's poker. But as mentioned you don't want 1/5 of your stack in the middle with 22 where it's no good unless you set (which is about 1/8 meaning that even if every single time you set you end up winning his entire stack, this is an example of when you don't as well as when he misses), it's still not a good call. If you had both had buy-ins of the norm for 1/2 which is usually $200, you may have been able to make the call. But you can't commit 1/5 of your stack to the pot when you need a set to have a hand that's any good.

Absolutely played it right. You are really only worried about AA or A2 and that is so unlikely. After the flop you were 77/23 favorite so it wasn't as good as being a 90/10 fav that you might think.

Board: Ah Ad 2d
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 77.071% 77.07% 00.00% 763 0.00 { 2c2s }
Hand 1: 22.929% 22.93% 00.00% 227 0.00 { AsKd }

Post flop you got chips in good. Can you rerun turn and river three or 10 times? You would hopefully prevail more times than not.

I think Zachvac said it best. You invested $10 when, hoping to get a set and win $50. Investing 1/5th on a 1/8.5 shot is going to burn you.

Of course, I guess you say that you invested "$5 more." But seeing as how he re-raised, and how aggressive those types of games seem to be, you can pretty much assume that you're *not* going to see a turn for free. Would you call a raise on the flop if you didn't hit? If you would, then you're pretty much dedicating all of your chips to this one hand.

But post flop... I don't know how fast you shoved all your chips in when he shoved, but you probably didn't do it fast enough. It was an insta-insta-call.
