I was playing a free poker game at a bar a few nights ago. First place gets a gift certificate to the bar. Believe it or not some people take this super seriously! So my question is this....

I raise UTG with JJ this fish is in the BB tanks for a minute. While tanking he is not protecting his cards very well and since I am sitting right next to him I see his cards. He has 910 off... Keep in mind I was not trying to see them at all. He was like holding them up. So here is my question, what do you do in this situation?

definitely not cheating. its his job to protect his cards and waving them in front of your face is not a good way of going about doing that. however im not exactly sure if your supposed to inform the table that you saw his cards cause i think if you see something the entire table is supposed to be entitled to getting the same info as you.

After the hand I will usually mention it to the player once. During the hand I would use it to my full advantage.

If the player fails to cover his cards correctly then surely you can not be called to question for cheating as this is obv his mistake

and on the felt is war so use whatever you have to beat him in the hand

I just see this as you had a much better "read" on him than you usually would

I experience this all the time. It depends on the person. If it's someone who you don't particulary care for or plays reckless, I wouldn't say anything and enjoy the advance information. If it's someone who is learning how to play and is inexperienced, I would say something like "make sure you cover your hand so no one can see it."

I did take full advantage of the hand. The flop came 10 3 3 and I bet real big because I knew he was a fish. Needless to say I won the hand and took alot of his chips :)! I feel the same way as almost all of you. It is his fault and it is part of the game not cheating.

This was not cheating. It is up to the other player to protect his cards.

This is what I 1st thought when I read it just tell him after the game he isnt protecting his hand properlly then if he keeps on doing it its his own fault.

Er, honestly, smash him. I love it when idiots pick up their cards to eye height, then push them away as they squint to focus showing both player on the left and right.

Some drunkard was going all in every 5 hands at Christchurch casino and did this with A2, Im on the BB with AJ. Smashed.

Its pretty annoying when the player doing it is opposite you.

^^^^ I agree with this all the way. Unless the beginner is annoying as well then enjoy.
