Although I do have my favorite players who I'd like to see win (Kenny Tran, Lee Markholt, Lee Childs, etc.), I think that it'd do wonders for the poker industry if a young internet hotshot took down the bracelet... namely Tom Dwan, Hac Dang, Brian Townsend, Vivek Rajkumar. Someone who's built up their bankroll from the .05/.10 NL games and rallied up to a storybook title. (Yes, Hevad Kahn, I would like to see you win too.)

Something like that would only help aspiring players become inspired to be the next, and it could help poker bring in a new wave that could possibly (I hope) rival that of Chris Moneymaker's win that sparked the latest poker boom. Ultimately, that just equates to more fresh fishies for the next 5 years, online and at your local brick and mortar.

Without a question would love to watch Daniel Negreanu take it home this year...will be a very hard, but not an impossible feat.

By the way, how many people playing in this years WSOP? Just a ballpark number since it isn't official.

Most likely it'll be some nobody - particularly since the three-month gap will give the nobodies who make the final table the opportunity to get extensive coaching.

As for OP and Ivey playing well - are you serious? Looks like he's having an awful series to me, only two cashes from 30 events so far and neither of them has been major. Mostly he seems more concerned with his side bets and how much he's going to win / lose on the NBA playoffs.

He's obviously an awesome player, but so far this just doesn't look like his year.

yeah because he obv doesn't care about the estimated 30 million he has in side bets on him winning a bracelet

I really think this year will be won by a known player. It might not be a house hold named player, but I guy that people in poker know.

I think it would be best for poker if someone that won their seat via FullTilt won due to the overlay that FullTilt has promissed. It will only make poker bigger.

I've heard a few figures thrown about on his side bets, but $30 mil?

The suggestion is that he's got $2 mil riding on the Lakers winning the playoffs, and that his bracelet side bets, while substantial, aren't as big as that one.

Only one that's really been confirmed is the $200K-per-bracelet he's got going with Negranu - which he's obv down $200K on so far. He's definitely going out of his way to try for a bracelet this year though, I think he's played nearly every event so far...

In that case, just  I guess.

That, and I suppose he can't be happy that Negranu's in the running for his second bracelet of the series today :p

*Edit: OK, so he went out in seventh, and saved Ivey another $200K*

I hope Ivey at least makes the final table. I have $4 on him making the final table at 80-1 odds on Sportsbook. I meant to bet when the odds were 100-1, but I forgot.

I may put a couple bucks on Daniel and Phil to make the final table too.
