Do you bump up a level when you're running good? Or strictly let your bankroll determine that?

Bankroll size determines what stakes you should be playing at, not how well you are running. Running well does not last forever and if you bumped up a level and ran into a cooler.. Well probably wouldnt turn out to well. Besides if you are running good at one table, it does not mean you are going to be running good at another. Might as well get all that run good out of the table you are running good on :]

When you are running well and playing well just play as much as you can but there's no need to move up in stakes. Before you know it you'll be running bad and making mistakes again so make the most of it while it's there.

you never play what you don't want to lose .So just cause u can for a game or two, almost never works out .Always play within your means ,your bankroll has to control what games you play and the odds for or against you.

How do you know you are running good? You may have ran well in your last session but that has no effect on your next session at all.

So using two seconds of logic we can easily understand its the latter that you should be following.

I agree with bankroll. Moving up when your "running good" is gamblers fallacy.

Bankroll management is key. U will go absolutely busto if u move up because u ran well. Poker sessions are independent probability each 1 is it's own. Treat them that way.

Hey folks new here, bankroll management has been an issue for me. I've gone bust a few times now after $50 deposits, and I find that once I get going say I bring $5 to a table I get it up to $20 I start to get really dumb luck. I don't know about bumping up but I will admit I have gotten ahead and went to a higher stakes table and it has never ended in my favor.

When I am running well I definitely will not leave the table until I see that the tide is turning. I dont like going to higher stakes when I am running good because I think it ruins the momentum, just imo.

It depends on what your risk adversion is. If you fear losing your bankroll, then stick to standard BRM and move up when your roll allows it. However, if you can afford to reload your roll on your own dime, if you lose it, then it is ok to bump up by adding in higher stakes, in addition to, not in place of your current stakes. This will make moving up less variance filled. But in general players tend to try to avoid unneccesary variance, which is understandable, however I chose to embrace variance and meet it head on... and we all know what that can lead to! =)

Respect your bankroll size. Level up means a lot of risk and situations that you haven't handled before. Even the best players had a really tough time when moving up.

i usually go up levels when im running good and then lose all my money. just being honest here.:( if i had a major leak in my game, then that leak would be BRM. if i deposit 50 and and miraculously turn it into 200(by playing in 25 or 50NL which is way out of my limits),i will automatically go sit down at 100NL and either turn it into 3-400 or lose it.

i cant stop myself from doing that. i really need to learn some self discipline.
i see myself as a pretty good player with bad gambling tendencies.

I had this problem when I started playing. Then I became a bankroll nit. Thankfully, now I'm somewhere in the middle. Give it time and I'm sure you'll find the discipline you need too. BRM is a massively important part of the game.
