Reading the other thread about luck in free rolls made me start this one. I've been thinking about starting a thread about what really is "luck" in poker for a while.
Ok, this is what most people consider "good luck" in poker:
- Getting premium cards
- Your premium hands not losing
-Winning coin flips
- Winning when you're an underdog, etc.
...now what I consider real luck, especially when you are playing against good players is getting a good hand and your opponents also getting a good hand, in a good situation.
For example: You flopping a set, your opponent flops a flush draw, both you and your opponent hit the magical river card that gives him the nut flush and you the full house.....to me, that's the real luck involved in poker. Everything else is variance, imo.
