Narrowing a list to three is virtually impossible.

So many are now playing at a high level. When one of these players gets on a hot streak they can be virtually unplayable.

Sontheimer, Chidwick, Koon, Peters, Bodyakovsky, Shindler, Holz, Bonomo, Matteos... the list could run to twenty or thirty players easily.

Then you have the online beasts such as Loeliger (LLinuLLove)...

I appreciate fans have their favorites such as Negreanu and Helmuth but their day has come and largely gone. If they were still genuinely competitive they would regularly compete with those above, but they generally avoid them as they know better,
