Hi CC Members,
I have been a member here since this past summer however I've been really busy this past semester with school work so I basically haven't been on here since then. Anyways, now that I'm on winter break from school I've had more time and been playing a lot more. It seems that my hands when I go all in don't hold well. Pocket kings, queens, etc seem to never hold well for me when called with any ace. I'm often favored 72% to their 28% to win, however a lot of times I can't. It often times is frustrating as I usually bubble as a result of this, and I often seem to be at the end receiving the beat then giving it. I guess its related to luck but do you guys have any tips on how to deal with this? Also and more importantly, how to deal with not getting frustrated and doing dumb things like tilting as a result. Thanks guys

Everyone has downswings like that. The reason your on the receiving end of it is because you not pushing with ace rag but getting called with it so your getting 3 outed not 3 outing. Also you said near the bubble you go out.Could be you played to tight during the mid stages of the tourny an got your self short stacked an big stackes are just taking a small risk calling you with these weak ace hands.

Well basically its called Variance... I happens to all of us... Speak to any poker player and ask them you ever been favorite to win and lost the answer will be yes!

But as Joe said maybe worth looking at your mid - stage playing...Worth looking at stealing blinds etc... There is a very good advanced thread on here that explains alot about stealing blinds... It very important to build a healthy amount of chips...

I think another thing to keep in mind here is perspective. Human nature is such that we tend to get emotional about and remember our bad beats more than we do our great wins, probably because we expect or feel we deserve to prevail. Then we generalize by saying stuff like pocket Kings never hold up for me or my Aces always get cracked.

The fact is that's literally impossible.

However, such generalizations can trigger a negative mindset which affects our overall play. One way to avoid this psychological trap is to keep some really detailed records for a period of time in order to regain a proper perspective.

OR JUST REALIZE FFFHIT HAPPENS, the longer u play, the more you'll realize this, and the less likely you'll start to tilt because of this, just like everything in life it's thru experience, sounds to me your slow playing these hands, trying to fatten the pot, just go 3-4 times the big blind usually people will fold, because they will think your representing a big hand! I'm thinking do this preflop!

Not much to say in the way of advice. Seems like you are getting your money in with the best of the odds which is what we all try to do, isn't it? Just keep playing, evnetually the odds have to work out........or they wouldn't be "the odds".

Why are we assuming that OP is shortstacked & playing too tight in mid levels???
To OP,... yes it can become frustrating at times, especially when this kind of stuff happens a bunch of times in succession. One may begin to play differently as a result (form of tilt... ie. playing monster hands too fast after losing to a zillion 2 & 3outers, etc.).
Most good poker players who have put in any kind of volume will have experienced some downswings.... not cashing in 60+ mtts in a row is not uncommon even for the very best online MTT players,.... losing 20sngs is also not uncommon.
I don't have any answer for dealing with downswings but things I do are: review reading material/info.(books, strat. articles, Poker Mindset, etc.), read HH's in forums, review my play via an auto hand replayer, talk with others, etc. etc.
