None of my family play poker and don't really approve of gambling. That said however they see poker as a recreational interest of mine and even show interest in my results and will listen to my long winded tales . Any recreational activity comes with some level expenditure, poker is no different. They may perhaps view it differently if I was constantly going broke but good BRM prevents this and the occasional good win also aids with the perception ☺️
My family take it as a gambling thing and see it the wrong way i think. They see it as non serious activity because of all the stories in the gambling world. It's just a matter of being consistent and disciplined and prove them all wrong.
Poker is one of the loneliest hobbies jobs
out there and so it's easy to understand peoples criticism. Then you buy yourself a house, give your family members a car, pay for their holidays and suddenly it's not just a game to them anymore
In the beginning they thought I was gambling and losing money. After a little time, when the earnings came, they understood that I wasn't gambling and that poker is a game of skill.
Now they don't care so much about it.
My family will stand behind me and watch me play. If I'm at a final table they will be watching me. They are my cheerleaders lol my mom and kids but soon my husband will be back and I have a feeling he isn't going to like me spending hours playing poker. He don't know that Poker is my first love he don't know I have a secret relationship with poker. So for now I am going to play as much as I can before he comes back.
