I know 90% of the players that are at this forum would never do this but for the other 10%............
When you are busted out of a tournament (or cash game) even if its by a bad beat or a lessor player, Tip your hat say good game, and either watch quietly or leave all together. PLEASE do not stay and cuss and rant and throw a fit like you are 4 and mommy just took your toys away. If you tried that at a live game security would bounce you out on your ass or a player would stand up and break your jaw. Treat online games the same as you would live events at any Casino, that means your actions at the rail or the table.
P.S. while I am on the subject, stop with the ZZZZZZ when someone is slow to respond. I can promise you, it will NOT speed up play

I couldn't agree more. What's even worse are the people who follow them to new games or tables just to gripe more. Pathetic.

That's the problem with quite a few youngsters these days. They have grown up "online", where they generally have no consequences for rude behavior.

I doubt with most of them you would have to worry about them acting up in a live game. They're only brave enough to pull that stuff behind the safety and anononimity of a computer monitor.

Normally when I lose(quite often haha).

I say GG GL everyone. If it's a terrible beat i might throw in a kick his ass for me please.

Anyhow, more than once I've seen a comment like "Now there's a gentleman"

I'd much rather have "friends" at the table than enemies.

great point! amarillo slim makes this a huge point in one of the books i have read by him. his motto is that if you are invited to play poker somewhere, make sure that when you leave, you will receive an invite to return or that you are welcome to play there at at any time

You mean that if someone calls your pocket rocket all in preflop wit 8 3 off and then sucks out on the river, you should say thanks.. gh, and leave. Maybe they just saved you a lot of frustraition of donk play at that table. In general I do agree, but must admidt that the seemingly ever increasing number of these people who are these types of plays makes it difficult to be nice after seeing such bad play and ending up on the loosing end of it. In the end , for me silence is often the best policy .... move on to the next suckout.

I couldn't agree with you more Cowboy and thanks for posting this thread .... I need to vent about the girlie men that do this childish thing... I'm so suprised , even now when I see it and I've seen it 100 times over again.... It just baffles me how you can sit around a table like a fourth grader ranting and spewing your vulgarity as if it will make a magic ticket appear to let you back in the tournament or somethin... lol:p .... Face it YOUR OUT!!!!! and all the smack talkin in the world isn't gonna get you back in.... So instead of breakin out the pom pom's and railin the so called donkey who just busted you out .... Come on in here in the forum and post about it. Because from a straight womans perspective it is a huge turn off to see a grown man act like a little BEEEEOTCH;) ... So please think about that the next time your "panties" get a little tight and try to remember " Hey I'm a BOXER kinda guy"...

With that being said, Yes I am looking for the day (or at least the game) when I see player after player stand up shake hands with everyone left at the table and walk away..........come home, log on to cradschat, go to the bad beats froum page and post what a lucky pice of s**t that son of a ***** was. Thats what it is there for

i totally agree. i play live whenever i get the chance, usually 3 or 4 times a month, and it never occured to me when i lose there to get up storm out and/or curse at the person that knocked me out. yet online, it does happen to often. yeah it makes you mad, but stop and think about this.....what if you were the one being called names and cursed at? i imagine you wouldnt appreciate it. we all can do our part to make it a more pleasant experience. nice post cowboy.

When refering to Phil Helmuth or Mike the mouth, remember "Professional" is a relative term. For those two and others like them, there are 5 Doyle Brunsons, Chris Fergusons, Phil Ivey or Dan Herringtons.

If you cant be a good sport and get too cocky then you will never make it. Gotta take the losses just like you take the wins. Have a good time. If someone takes your chips or your loot, just remeber there is another game to play. If you get mad about loosing money then dont play with money you cant afford to loose. Hope to see you all at the felts sometime. Good players make the game better.

Chat Off!!!

I don't care what a player does after they're busted out. I play with my chat off, always. It's the only way to play online for me. Good or bad, I don't wanna hear/read it. It's annoying.

I know alot of players that do that too Don, But I do not recommend it. Getting tells ON LINE is hard to do, seeing them talk is one of your best weapons and if you use the "players notes" it will do you well in future games

I think you summed it up right there. For you.....

I couldn't agree with you more Cowboy and thanks for posting this thread .... I need to vent about the girlie men that do this childish thing...

Imma "girlie man." Well, I like the girlies anyway. So, what's wrong with that?

Yes I am looking for the day (or at least the game) when I see player after player stand up shake hands with everyone left at the table and walk away

You aren't the boss of poker. And you will hafta deal with this. PERIOD. How will you deal with it.

1. Give us fodder to talk about?
2. Mute the sucker.

If they wanna berate, let them. It only feeds the humor bro. :p

Good post Cowboy. Poker etiquette is definitely something that we can all aspire to maintain/improve, whether online or live. I know that when I began playing poker with my friends two years ago, I wasn't the most courteous person after losing, but I quickly learned that it makes no sense to be a jerk after losing.

But the more I play, the more I see poor etiquette.

Another etiquette problem that I tend to see is a player who tries to guess someone's hole cards when they are not involved in the hand or when there are multiple players in a hand. It's a different situation if you're heads up and do this, but I think we can strive to be more careful with what we say.

Oh dont get me started on people talking about a hand or player during a hand. Thats a whole other thread and I am sure I would get banned for the words I would put in that thread

Good post Cowboy. A few months ago on Stars I saw a player being repeatedly hassled by two other players who had been busted out of the tournament. They were mean, rude, and refused to go away. I called the Moderator and, after reviewing the chat, he electronically showed them the door. Childish idiots!

I know I do it (get up shake hands and leave) at every live game I've played. I always try to shake the hand of the person that knocks me out, and if I'm on a final table, I usually make it a point to shake eveybody's hand that will respond.

It is tuff at times to not get mad and thats something im working on now is to let the bad beats go live or online and i am getting better at. Ive said a word or two when i should have just gotten up and said good game and walked away but that is a work in progress for me right now especially in live games i play locally. Sometimes its just hard to understand how someone can call ur raise with 23 offsuit and your holding aces and they flop a set or 3's.I also understand that is the person that u want sitting at your table but it sucks when the catch the flop.
