you need to maybe evaluate what is important to you my friend... maybe look at your disposable income first... what you got to pay out and then see what you go left... also look at your returns on poker... are you getting regular wins? are the wins big? if they arent then you pretty much have your answer... if they are big then maybe ask the question why your bank roll start up is only $200 .... im not saying dont pursue your dreams my friend but i am a realist and i will always give it to people straight....you should probably build yourself a decent bankroll if you really want to have a good go at it and see how well you do but i wouldn't go quitting my day job just yet... at least see a good enough return to cover your monthly overhead because if the average household costs £1600 a month to run you got to make £1600 guaranteed every single month of your life on poker and that my friend isn't easy... so when you ask a question like this maybe put some thought behind what your asking because unless your a poker god nowadays $200 isn't going to take you very far it will be one hell of a grind and you literally got to have 0 downswings but good luck!

Can i persue it as a career mind you my monthly income is 200$

My Uncle (Only 7 years older than me) has been a Pro-golfer since he was very young playing for Botswana came to England UK and his father (My GrandFather) supported his indulgence...

When my Grandfather passed away my uncle had no job and no support, his skills began to fade until he started working in a golf club reception and shop...

He continued to play only for the love of the game and teach others to play...

I advise, if you are serious about your love of the game and dont have the money to support playing, become a poker dealer or target your career toward casinos local to you...

As you start out there is no better environment to learn without playing...

One of my girlfriends from way back loved horses so much she worked in a Horse stables for some rich family... she loved it, still loves it, for her it isn't work...Its just a great time...day in day out...

For you it could be the same...Poker that is, Not horses or Golf...

I believe that it can be a career, but you should dedicate a lot and always keep your game up to date, as Poker is constantly adapting, so if that is your wish, go ahead.

$200 is not the same everywhere around the world. OP specifies in profile that they are from Pakistan. Average annual income in Pakistan is about $1500, so OP is a bit above average.

The big question is how much disposable income does OP have to pursue a career in poker in Pakistan and will it be live or online?

I live in mexico, and I could pay my living only from Poker freeroll winnings. Ok, it's a very cheap house and food would be eggs, beans and tortillas every day, water for drinking. (with internet and energy 100$)
What I want to say is, that in some parts of the world it is much easier than in switzerland.
But you should always be aware, that all your payings come from Poker then, and every business has some bad streaks, so you have to be prepared for that as well.
search this forum for poker professional and you will find many recommendations, how much money you should have in the back to survive downswings, bad beats and in Pakistan maybe as well as here hours or days without energy or internet...
But: YES, we can!:elefant:

my friend's friend have chosen poker as career. 8 hours per day he playing poker.
the task of the day has been set: not to lose more than the sum A or receive a win in the amount of sum B. when one of the conditions is fulfilled the game for this day ends. if u can enjoy similar activities you can devise some system of rules or chaotic deeds and call it your poker-career! gl with this :)

The idea of being a professional poker player is very tempting. Here you are your own boss. You play when you want. Learn when you want. Take a vacation whenever you want. You can go to different poker tournaments or just travel, the name of the opportunity to open a laptop at any time and roll back the session. It all sounds very attractive.

I think you must first build your bankroll, analyze how your game is flowing before starting a career in poker

Without a doubt, this is absolutely possible. But it depends primarily on you and on your perseverance. It takes time to reach the result. Are you ready to spend enough time to achieve your goal ?

It is definitely possible especially for us who live with in lower cost of living countries. I could basically support myself with about $300/mth. I would be quite comfortable with $500/mth.

I believe poker can be a career. There is a lot of evidence for this among poker players. But we must not forget that only 5% achieve positive results among all poker players. And only 1% of this number reaches really high heights. But everything is like in life.
I think that you just need to do and love your work and the result will come by itself. And whether you deserve the highest results that life will show.
You have achieved a good result, but there is a long way ahead in which there are many holes and potholes, and it is not always smooth and straight. You also understand that currently $ 200 is not a lot of money that does not even cover the expenses of your life with a decent standard of living and does not include the needs of your relatives. So seriously think that it is better to engage in poker at the level of amateur and hobby or to engage professionally.

if you play every day all the time and you will win somewhere in tournaments or cash games and take good prizes and normally raise a bankroll, I think that you can get a good rise and make a career, I saw and watched players raise a bankroll almost from 0 and then continue to play good expensive tournaments and they win and get good prizes, and now they play good tournaments constantly and win and have a good poker career, I wish you good luck that you try to raise th career in the poker!

True until you break it down a bit.
ALL the good cash games are on Friday and Saturday nights (and holidays).
ALL the good tournaments are on the weekend.

No reason to NOT work a full time job AND play poker.

so it seems to you without a bankroll, discipline, sooner or later it will still roll to about zero, it is checked, you need to constantly evolve, even playing freerolls

If you are good enough you can. You might want to save up money so you can start with a decent enough stack to handle a set back or two, otherwise start at the lower levels and build your stack up gradually. Good luck!!

I wouldn't bet on it... (lol) poker is such a volatile game, since luck is part of the equation, even if you play perfectly, some donkey with 2-7 will hit a boat and destroy your hand.

Also, you say your income is only 200 dollars, so you really have a lot to lose, I would only use poker as a hobby.
