Hold'em Manager (HEM)
Poker Tracker 3 (PT3)

I believe those are the two most popular. You have to pay for them, but PT3 has a 60-day trial if you want to try it out.

I don't use one myselfbut the main two programs people use here are Hold 'em manager (HEM) and Pokertracker 3 (PT3). I just write down the games I play along with entry fee, profit and loss in an excel spreadsheet as I don't have anything to track my hand histories until I buy one of the two programs i mentioned earlier

In addition to HEM/PT3, get pokerstove (free download).

HEM also have a trial but is shorter, was 15 days when i try it, i really like HEM, most people that i know prefeer HEM HUD than PT3 (myself include), but try both and you decide.

Pokerstove is helpfull too added with any of the 2 trackers.

Good Luck there.

They're legal, and whether pros use them or not seems irrelevant to me...

yes they're legal, yes many pros use them (agree that's not particularly relevant).

Poker stove

I`ve heard that poker stove was free to download .Is that true? A:withstupi lso does poker stove give you your oppnents hand history`s,as to get a better "feel" of thier range. Is there a program that can do both ? How can you obtain that input on your opponants?

pokerstove is an odds calculator - you tell it what ranges you want to look at, and it gives you odds. Yes it's free. Go to the website and download it.

What you're describing is PT3 or HEM. Based on hands you've played against your opponents, it gives you statistics on what they've done in the past based on the hand histories. These will also tell you the odds/equity your actual hands had against each other; but if you want to run your hand against a range of hands (for example, if you didn't get to a showdown), pokerstove will do that.

Go to HEM or PT3 websites for more detailed info.

You can buy a PS3 anywhere, including eBay, so shop around for the best deal. Probably won't help much with your poker, though.
