Hope everyone is having a great new year.

I got in a car accident 367 days ago and today finally got cleared to start walking without crutches or a cane. Light at the end of the tunnel in terms of healing time. Came home and felt this intense urge to start writing down my poker goals for the year. Hoping I can have a big sunday.

Anyone out there have a story where you felt like you got some momentum off the felt and it helped push your game to the next level or just had a some good scores?

I just need a bankroll. I have long been ready to play at medium limits. For two years I had been hoping for slot machines in a casino, and I was losing all the money from tournaments weekly in a casino. But the miracle did not happen. There is no casino this year, I will gradually increase the bankroll with the help of freerolls. It hurts a long time, but I will bear it.

Never actually got profit from poker but I'm still optimistic about it. Got my ears pierced and I wanna make a bunch of changes in my life this year. I too had a car accident last year but I'm totally over it now

I’m so sorry that you dealt with a serious car accident, but a huge congratulations on your recovery!

I don’t have any examples as tremendous/inspiring as yours, but I do enjoy playing poker even more when things are going very well otherwise in my life. My instincts say that happiness translates into a higher degree of confidence, which in turn makes me more able to see interesting, exploitive lines that I may have missed if I wasn’t feeling well.

That's how Ali Imsirovic got his career started

He got injured and couldn't play basketball anymore so he channeled his competitive drive into playing cards.

The one perk about not being able to move around is that you have lots of time to absorb content, learn, and become a better player

Many of my students started poker when they were injured and it helped them stay motivated during the healing process :bike:

I invite you to make the most of it and wish you the best!

First congratulations for your recovery. There is nothing more important than health. Regarding the momentum - mental shape have big effect on your game because if you are not in good shape or are distracted with something else you can not play your A game. Having overcome serious health problem releases big amount of resources that were busy so use them and good luck on the felt. :)
