Played a few wsopfreerolls and satelites lately and in a couple of them it was possible to take the buyin money(but not the expenses) instead of the seat.
Just wondering what everyone on here would do,take the $10000 or give it your best shot at the big one?
Me?I'd have to give it a go.
Yes, I would go for it and anything after that would be a bonus. Just like that Steve Dannenmann guy on WSOP who placed second {$4,250000}. He said he didn't care if he won the tournament because once he made it to the cash it was all a bonus for him. He just had fun.
For me anyway this one would be a no-brainer. It a big dream of mine to play in the WSOP main event. I hope to eventually buy-in myself, that is if I dont win a sat in the meantime.
I would be tempted to just take the money and run, because I doubt I would get anywhere near the final table, but...we're talking about a once in a lifetime experience, and like tribal kronic, I would hate to spend the rest of my life going, "What if...?"
I think i take the 10k and go to the wsop anyway. i'd play in the lower fee tourneys and the satelittes to the main event. (everyone rembers that big dumb hick who won his way in with a $225 satelitte and tried to knock off chris furgeson with k 9o. his quote was. "It's only $225")
You have to figure you'd get more out of your experance if you played in 4 events at the wsop. also your odds of winning would be higher wouldn't you rather face 1500 or 2000 oppents twice than 5000 once? You could win your way to the main event.
On the other hand. i might just have to go for it.
That's something I've thought about before. In my current situation -- I've only been playing four months -- I'd probably take the $10,000. A year down the road, assuming my knowledge/play has adequately improved, I'd go for it in the the WSOP.
My preference would be to not have the choice of taking the cash so I could go ahead and play the big game guilt-free.
In the current financial climate & a month of bad beats and crummy cards - Ill cash the cheque thank you very much
BUT - 90% of me says go just try and make the money, finish the 1st day or just be there, so many different ideas come from just having the chance as opposed to sitting with $10,000.
I reckon i'd give it go - now 7-2os is bad right???
