How Good Are You?

On a scale from 1-10 how good do you think you are at your poker game of choice? I just want to see where everyone ranks themselves. Please see the guidelines below before you respond.

(1 you know how to play but thats all, 5 know something about the game but still have a lot to learn before you are great[average], 10 you could sit down with any nine players in the world and have a fair chance of winning)

obvioulsy your scale isn't continuous, as the definition you give for "5" should probably be more like a 2 or 3...

ok ill amend 5. you are good at poker but you still have a lot to learn. in other words you are everage. better than a lot of players, not as good as a lot of players. that better ag?

Ok, but that doesn't make it a continuous scale. There is still a HUGE difference between 5 and 10, but a small difference between 1 and four...

I know it seem intuitive to make five the "average", but if you consider that that only 30% (less?) of poker player are winners, the "average" player is probably only a 2, with break even players a 3(.1)...

i agree. but man, this scale thing is getting way too complicated, i can't even vote now

Ok, use this is a benchmark:

I said 5. I am a consistent winner and make a steady second income at $50NL ring games and at MTTs around $10 buyin but, if I were to sit down with 9 top pros, I`d be slaughtered and I know it.

I reckon that fits reasonably well with AG`s 6. I accept he could be a notch better than me.

So, if you reckon you are stronger than me (and AG) you are 6+, if not you are 5-.

This is true but i assumed that most people who were members of a poker forum are somewhat serious about the game so i tried adjust the scale to take this into account. You'll have to excuse my lack scale making abilities.

OK, how about this as a reference. What number would you consider someone who is able to consistently break even (so beat the rake but nothing more) online? Is that what you mean by 5? Or would that be more a 3 or so? Because I'd say even the 10th best player in the world would say something like 5 (unless they're an arrogant jerk). Everyone has a lot to learn, hell I'd say the best player in the world won't stay that way unless they continue to learn more and get better, although I guess the 10th best in the world wouldn't get slaughtered by the top 9, but you get the point. Basically you'd have like everyone but a few hundred in the entire world below 5. Also, please define "know something". I know this was just for fun but I want to accurately rate myself on your scale

That makes absolute scale definitions moot. This is not rocket surgery.

Ive been officially playing online poker for a little over a year for real money........I voted myself a 1 mainly for the fact that I know that i can beat a lot of people with skill but I also know that I have so much to learn and need experience to be a much stronger and smarter player.
