To start. It's been a while since i played live. Right away I lost 160 i had A10 and he had a set of sixes with the highest card 10 on the flop. I went that far because I was new to the table, people love to go crazy with flush draws (there was one). Just unlucky. I re-bought to 100 bbs and he left to a plo game. After he left I went up to 500 calling off short stacks and dodging bullets. Villain comes back hours later.
Situation 1: I have AKs I raise 12, a bunch of people call. flop is ks 9c 6d. The pot is over 60 I bet 60, Everyone folds but he calls. Turn is a Qd he goes"uh oh you're in trouble." I look and see that a really good K high straight can make it there so I meekly check. And river is a 5. We wind up going all in and he had 98s, making him a straight on the river. After he said I played the hand terribly, I admit I did on the turn by not C betting. First He called a raise with 98 preflop against a raise. then he called a large flop pot bet drawing with a 5 to one odds. I've plugged this hand through flopzilla and I was ahead preflop. He said That my betting tptk was wrong on a flop like that.
He kept tooling me saying I was on tilt. Later as short stack with 75 or so left. I got down mainly because the guy kept telling everyone one I was on tilt so whenever i raised a strong broadway hand half the table would call. The flop wouldn't help me so I would just fold. I get AK again and raise 25 and get two callers, one guy was a really short stack fish who had the same. I thought no matter what I'm jamming the flop with anything and maybe get a fold. Another guy who had limped also called. The donk checks so I just pause a second and then jam hoping the guy would fold or even call a weak Q which was on the board and a flush draw since I still had somewhat of a chance to pair ahead of him or to have him miss his flush if that what was he was after. So he calls, The donk folds. He only had a weak flush draw and made it on the river. and the other poker pro psychology dude was tooling on me again. "You shouldn't have hesitated before you bet, that WAS the giveaway." Then I remembered what mike caro had said about inducing a call to pause before you bet, and actually that's what I did because I wanted a call for my chance to hit or hold, knowing that both villains call preflop with garbage.. so I said as I left, "He did exactly what I wanted him to do. You just have bad days sometimes" and Mr. Psychology major whatever just agreed, and didn't argue.
So in all. I was ahead of most peoples ranges pre flop, got people to call my hands when I wanted them to. Guys got lucky with their draws. The mistake was not representing the K on the turn in the earlier hand and giving the guy a free card because i was slightly rattled by his talk. I was slightly annoyed at Mr talkative, but I stayed within my limits, my hand ranges, and the way I bet even as a short stack.
so any thoughts?
