top 2 pair after flop

This has happened to me several times, tends to happen when i hold AK or AQ and I hit both of my cards on the flop making me top 2 pair. I know your supposed to bet hard to take players of their draws, but AGAIN last night at our regular card game I lost a very large pot to a player who hit trip 3's on the river !!!!!
Any suggestions on how to play this hand ??

All depends on who is betting and how many players on the table. If I get raised all in with 2 pair then I fold but if you get checked raise 4xBB or whatever you feel comfortable

Most players that hit trips on the flop would raise, just from my experience.

Sometimes you gotta take bad beats like that though!

I got called all in a few days ago in a freeroll, I had AQ, hit 2 pair on the flop and he 86, im thinking what an easy pot, he hits 6 6 on the turn/river!

What can you do, just gotta take it on the chin and move on

The best thing you can do is not let a bad beat change your play because when you do win the pot you want it to be big enough to make up for all the bad beats you take.

Thanks very much for the advice guys, I just find that a bad beat like that ruins my game for the next 10 hands or so, I lose the confidence to play my good hands unless I have the nuts.

Maybe it would be an idea to sit out for 10 mins and get some air. Anyway after that beat i went on to win the next 2 games and walked home €160 richer !!

:stupid: Unfortunately just because you play correctly does not mean you always win. I'm also amazed at the size of bets people make with the odds stacked greatly against them, what is annoying is watching them hit. I'm even annoyed when it happens to others and not me. By the way that ecact thing happened to me today. DANG 33.

What happens is some players stay in with CRAP and catch cards. on fulltilt one day in the freeroll the first better went all-in he had 14,000 in chips he had a 3 of clubs and an 8 of diamonds then 2 folded> i had 11,000 chips and called with KK and guess what he got a 3 and an 8 on the flop and i was out. The guy had no business going all-in with3 8 off suit but he won the pot. Just goes to show ya there is luck involved but in this case i would say it was stupidity and luck>>>>>>>> buckster436:icon_salu
