So I have been experimenting with opening up my 3betting range in a couple of spots and I'm a little confused about how to balance it. I play 6Max only.

As usual, I 3bet AA-QQ + AK from every position, JJ, TT, AQ from MP to BTN.

I started 3betting from the blinds with Axs, KQs and sometimes smash limpers from the CO/BTN down to KJo.

My problem is with betsize and villains calling frequencies. In higher limits 6Max PFR size is 2x-2.8x as people play a wider range, so 3betting makes a lot of sense preflop and on the flop.

When I get attacked in the SB by a 2BB raise and I 3bet, my risk is 5BB to get 5BB (BB&BTN).

In low limit games, PFR size still is 3x to 4x, so in the same situation I risk 8BB to get 6BB. Even more problematic is the fact that people don't even know how to react to a 3bet and call anyways.

They're like "Well, I 3x raised my J9s from MP and now this dork makes it 9x...maybe if I hit a flush I can make a lot of dough"

So I get called maybe 70% to 80% of the time, which is very good for value hands like high Aces or PP's. But especially in the blinds 3betting relies on the fact that there's fold equity and that I can take over the lead.

So what do you guys think in terms of betsize and range. Should I lower my 3bet - size from 3x to like 2.5x or even minraising and widen my range to stuff like suited connectors/gappers?

Should I tighten up my range from Axs to probably just A8o/s and increase my 3betsize to like 3.5x or 4x?

As a matter of fact, I don't like calling with hands like these, especially not from the blinds. Also, just 3betting with premiums is out of the question. First I get less action with them and second, I need to defend my blinds somehow, especially in 6Max...and if I only do it with premiums here, I become very exploitable.

Thanks for the suggestions :)

First hint is here: "As usual, I 3bet AA-QQ + AK from every position, JJ, TT, AQ from MP to BTN." In micros everything is very polarized, some players call anything others fold everything. Thus against some players you only bet for value, against some players you practically only bet to bluff because their calling range is so strong that only AA is really a value hand.

Secondly you keep complaining they call always, really, what you do? -> You only value bet always, if they call wide you just value bet wider. If they fold to CB in 3bet pot you always CB. If they always fold river, you bet river.

Lessons to be learned: You already knew the answer at least deep down but wanted to do what higher level players do. Second lesson: Don’t listen just anyone about poker, only those who are good at micros (so no for Polk, yes for blackrain and Splitsuit)

For online micros, you can 3bet as the button against almost any limpers with any cards. Cbet the flop and take it down. This will work at most tables. If you find yourself at a table where this is not making you money, find a new table
