Not long ago I won one of the CC, SB freerolls for $35. I thought I could take that BR and build it bigger. Well the only thing that's happening is that I'm only going down. I haven't won the first dollar playing the small MTT, but I have picked up a few at the cash tables. So I'm asking for some advice from players that play that site

DOWN DOWN DOWN I GO

I just can't win at SB. And I'm playing like the $50 $60 GTD

I'm playing a $50 GTD at 9pm and, if I don't cash, I'm going to do the same as I did at ACR/BCP.I have $17 left, so I'm cutting it up into 3 or 4 parts and it's win, lose, or draw.

WOW not one reply. Well there is no reason for me to keep posting here, asking for advice. Not going to happen I see.

"If you believe you can, then you sure can, but if you believe you can't, then you sure can't."

Playing within your bankroll is always wise so breaking your BR into smaller buy-ins is recommended.

That's what I'm doing. I'm playing MTTs no higher buy in than $1 Like the One Lucky Dollar. The rest of the time I'm playing the $50, $60, and $75 GTDs. I was playing one earlier and for the first 1 1/2 hours I caught only 3 hands I could even call with. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I'm ready for the Home Game, how about you?

PapaC you're old school. Just relax and enjoy playing. From your posts through the years you seem like someone who enjoys playing poker win or lose. Don't let a losing streak get you down, but if you're not having fun consider taking a break. You're not going to be a poker millionaire someday and neither am I. Play for fun. Play tight. Fold more J10, KJ, A10, KQ and other similar hands preflop, especially when there are raises or you act early pre-flop. Anyway, I'm no pro either, you just seemed like you needed a little pep talk/words of wisdom lol. Good luck!

Thanks Wally. Yeah that's my signature, but like everyone, I get down and can't get my thinking to be positive. Thanks again Wally

ScooperNova thanks for your reply. Everything you said is true, and I appreciate the reminders.

Thanks Sonny87 for your reply. I've tried some 6 max anything, but I've never done good in them. Well I'm not doing any good playing at all.

I play on there and am slowly building a BR playing their GTD freerolls and small MTTs .10-$1 buy-ins.

In general, MTTs are tough to play and to win consistently. The bigger the field, the harder it is. Also, the GTD FRs only pay a locked amount of players.

For the $50 FR, only 30 get paid and that game can bring in ~2K players. That's only 1.5% players paid. That's a huge field to get through and it's going to be difficult when you're playing against a lot of players and small payout pool.

The regular buy-in games are a little better with their payouts as they pay out ~10-18% of the players, depending on how many entered.

In general, MTTs are brutal and hard way to make a profit if you're not putting in a lot of volume, which can be very frustrating. I know what it's like to go on a drought of significant cashes in MTTs. I only have ~14 significant cashes/~245 games. Again, these games are hard to cash in because of how little the payout pool is in some games.

If MTTs aren't your thing, maybe try SNGs and/or cash.

Something you can try, and it's what I do: join a freeroll, then click auto-muck and sit out. Then sit out of the game until the add-on at the break. I'm playing in the $300 GTD FR and the add on is .45 for 5K stack.

Usually, I don't play a hand and I'll have ~400 chips left from my starting stack. So, when I take the add-on, it brings me up to 5400 chips. With blinds at 75/150, I have 36 BBs to play with, which is enough for me. Sometimes I will play a big hand like AA and try to double up, then take the add-on, but usually I'm sitting a little over 5.25K starting stack after the break, which is slightly below average.

If we look the player pool, 2047 players join the MTT and only 492 remain. So, more than 75% of the field is gone by the add-on. Out of the remaining 492, only 125 took the add-on. So there are a lot of players who are very short stacked and will bust out soon.

With payouts paying the top 50 players with < 500 players to go, and over 50% very short stacked, I think my chances of cashing or better are pretty good. I have a healthy stack and just need a few double ups to get there.

This 'strategy' works fine for me because I don't mind playing a shortish stack, late stage game in MTTs. If you prefer to play from the start, that works to. Just an idea.

I've found on SB that the 9 player 2nl are much softer than the 6 max tables, if you are patient at the right table you can get paid off with a good hand

Well you all, I rode it all the way down to my last $2 and yesterday I ended up with $6. Today I played the same MTT and took 7th for $11 more or less, so I'm at about $15. So what the hell, I'll try it again tomorrow.

Well I did it again. I think I had $.75 left, but last night I won $20 in our freeroll. Back in the game, but I wish I could go up more and down less, and build my BR to the point that I could play a little higher.

you should be aware that relatively poor player base sites simply hate those no-deposit freeroll bankroll builder players.

If you want to get really discouraged, check what others say about BOL/sportsbetting, its not that hard to find. YOur experience is not unique.

Yeah BlackJesus I know my experience is not unique. I made one deposit on BO years ago, and after that deposit was gone, I said I would never do it again, and I haven't. All I do now is playing our freerolls. I said "I WISH" because I have no faith that it will ever happen. Are you saying that I'm a "no-deposit freeroll bankroll builder players"? If so, I'm not.

ask u one question
james did u find any weaker player at any game you entered?

I believe at Betonline&sportsbetting network there are some fish, easy to for money

but I like Bovada/ignition, there are more fish and easy to recognize after several hands.

So my advice, not to try play poker, since you are playing for bankroll or profit, try to find your profit Zone - meaning trying to Hunting for Fish. LOL

XXPXXP I have said it a 100 times on here. I don't look for weak players. I hardly even notice screen names. I don't take notes. I just play the players at my table, and within 30 minutes I know who's weak, average, and good players. For me, the fact is that I would rather play with a full table of good players than any other. The only players I know and keep up with, are the friends I have made on here over the years. But XXPXXP every player has their way of winning, so I say more power to them. GL and thanks for your reply

Well thanks a lot XXPXXP. I say what's on my mind and the way I do things, then you don't like it because I won't agree, well that's fine. If you want to chase fish the rest of your life, then it tells me one thing, you are afraid to play with players who are better than you, because you will be the fish then. So now I'm done with you, because you can't tell me shit. If I want to find fish I will go to a near but pond.

James
poker is a Zero Sum game.
you ultimate purpose is trying to build a bankroll at sportsbetting right?

so Zero Sum game, the only way for u to wining money building a bankroll is
winning from weaker players or from fish.

you said you are not want to sitting with fish, u want challenge your skill , with phil Ivey or even better and you also want winning money - building bankroll. how could it be possible in a Zero sum game.

and there is no Shame to play with FISH, put your ego at home, at table, play with fish and take their money is no shame.

that is what I can tell u, yes shitty words, from me whaever you believe or not.

I am done with it.

BTW: Yes, I will keep my self from Phil Ivey 1billion miles away.
no shame to do that, I believe currently I am unable to beat him, if I could, I would sitting with him. I feel no shame about this. AND I feel no shame of afraid of sitting with better player at any REAL MONEY TABLE. yes I am afraid. Just because it is Zero sum game. I cannot win.
