Sometimes I play poker and I see a player that is just a total retard, but runs impossibly hot. Like they are impossible to beat, everyone that goes up against them preflop would be like a 66-80% favorite, like over pair vs 10,5o or AKs vs K2o and he would somehow connect.

Do you just hope for your shot at his stack because they are so bad or do you pause and go I don't really want to go heads up against a luckbox that can't miss.

Oh no - starting threads about superstitions is really unlucky.

If a bad player couldn't get lucky they would have to get better or quit playing, so I prefer it this way, and I am definitely looking to play pots with bad players.

Good luck!

majority of the time, you're never folding a strong hand against this player.

you might fold there if in a satellite bubble situation or a large pay jump situation where you don't cover the player. you also might fold hands that'll give you a pretty marginal equity edge if stacks are very deep, like a2s or 33 with 80 big blinds as it's just not necessary to call there. but if you had 15 bbs, sure, take that marginal equity edge against the player thats getting it in with 105o.

obviously, you're never folding monster hands like jj+, aqs+, ako with any stack size against this player, no matter how hot they're running. if you're folding a hand like jj against a super wide shove/calls hove range because they're hitting a lot and you're afraid you might bust out of an mtt, you should consider reevaluating your approach to the game.

These players ruin the game experience in my opinion, but it's best to play the better hands against them. I'd rather lose and move on to the next game than just sit there stressing about it and watching this player suck everyone out hand after hand.

We should ask Phil Hellmuth, in his opinion, all his life he's playing with a bunch of idiots. He probably knows what to do.:D

I'm not superstitious but I think as long as there's a chance the opponent can do anything, I've had a chance to win the hand from the grave. It's another matter that they win cards that I wouldn't play, but that can be very annoying.

I am not superstitious , but I will be very happy to see such a player at my table! I know that he can be incredibly lucky, but in the end he will lose everything. So don't fall into a tilt , just take his money!

I know what you mean, but you gotta go when you have the hand for it.

Thing about those running good lotto players is you will never see them at the final table. They will spew the chips, why not you be the one to collect a chunk of it.

I have to disagree. These players are an essential part of the experience.

Just look at how slot machines work. casinos use variance to maximize profits. No one would play slots at all if everyone just lost 1% of their money every time they played. Instead slightly less than half of the slot players on a given day walk out with significantly more money, and slightly more than half walk out with significantly less money. The winning players come back because they want to win more. The losing players come back because they think it will be their turn to win.

Poker works the same as slots for losing players. They wouldn't stick around if they didn't have winning streaks.

A winning player should understand that random events of past have no effect on random events in the future. Just because a player has been lucky the last few hands has no bearing on whether they will be lucky in the next hand. A good player sticks to the math and the odds. Anything else is superstition.

Once you see that, you see that the bad player is an opportunity for you to exploit, no matter how lucky he as been in the last few hands. So instead of stressing out and moving to another table or game I stick around and play against him betting on his luck running out.

Just my opinion of course.

when a player is seated in the correct chair and wins with any hand. the last thing I want is to play against him even with AA. I would never understand why variance decides to give all these cards to a player when I have to play 6 spots and more to see a favorable flop.

Superstition is fiction!People are different, someone believes, someone does not.Belief in superstition is also a striving for certainty.Psychologically, we really lack certainty in planning our actions. In order to somehow order our life, we introduce some signs, ritual actions that, at least, calm our psyche.Whether superstition works or not, it's up to you, for me it's an extra headache.

I recently lost so many hands against these types of players, my pocket aces are nothing compared to their 72o, 38o or other garbage.
It doesn't matter how I play the hand, they will always call my preflop all-in and catch the stronger combination. This happens even in the later stages of tournaments, all this is annoying me.

I just play the game of poker. I try to play the people more than I play my cards sometimes.

Yes, I see such situations really. There are players who go all in with any card and increase their Bank by 10-15 times.. I don't know how pokerstars works, but it really can win 3-4 all-in with any card.. I think it is necessary to avoid such players. There's no point going all in against him to knock him out when you have any card. But it is really difficult to throw out a very strong hand. Difficult choice, but I think I will not throw away AJ, AQ, KQ,KK, QQ, JJ, AK this card can not be thrown away and if you lose it's okay, today is not your day, tomorrow you will be stronger :) I think about it :)

Sometimes I go allin sometimes I limp because I know he will go allin. It doesn't always work. A good hand does not guarantee a win.

Thanks to these players, poker is profitable for regular players, instead of complaining about them, he appreciates that there are still players like that.
