I don't see anything wrong or rude about it, we all have the same amount of time to act, what I do with my time is my business and if anyone doesn't like it they can complain to the TD if they like.

Lol at it being rude and disrespectful.

:bandit:
Online there is no timing problem/ethics, clock is limited, timebank as well.
Just before the bubble, with marginal stack, delay makes sense to get itm (especially if skills are below average).
Funny to see is that the same people keep delaying during hand-for-hand play, which is unlikely to be smart.
Always nice to play with time to get some chips or put someone on tilt.:D

Most of the comments here have covered why people stall Pre Flop.. I've actually stalled because a guy I was playing with was one of the shorter stacks and I wanted to see him get into the money before going out. We had passed a few comments back and forth earlier.. NH kind of a thing.

He made it.. I said Gratz on making the bubble he replied... TY and I went back to normal play.. until it got close to the next tier and it was me on the bubble..

ahh good times..

didn't make it though.. used all my time helping him.

I will say is because your decision to Fold takes time, You need to analyze the odds and then maybe Fold, Check, or Go All in!

Your question is assuming all Folds are preset or somehow already plan and not always that is the case! :fight:

I can understand people playing slow on the bubble trying to make the money. Its just part of the game. I have an issue with the ones who do this all thought the tournament. It does not happen often but a few weeks back there was a playing time almost out on every hand and every decision. By the time the 2nd break had hit we had not played 50 hands. He has the right to play like this but frankly it just a plain rudeness to to that.

Well sometimes you want to play your hand but not against certain villains, and ultimately fold it. Or you're thinking about other factors that may change your mind about playing your hand.

Why delay pre flop when your intention is to FOLD? Especially in tournament poker. What does it matter?

Someone once explained it to me as a timing tell thing, but my son recently asked me this and I couldnt provide him with an explanation that made any sense to me, so I put it on you.

there are several reasons, some players delay to gain time if the players who will be paid only remain them a few opponents left the tounrois another reason is that sometimes a player hesitates between following or fold and sometimes even it is done on purpose to give the impression to a player that he is stressed and do not know what to play and of course one last reason is that a player is playing at several tables so he is focused on another table

If it is getting close to bubble bursting or money ladders then I can see someone stalling for as much little time as possible. Some people I think like to stall during certain hands just to get the opponent sweating a bit, even if they already know they plan to fold the hand. Personally the only way I stall is to make a significant payjump or for bubbles in a satellite tournament.

Yes the most different reasons! The most banal and frequent is to get into the prizes, win a couple of hands at the next table and get a pathetic penny, but when there is no this ,you can understand these people, although of course it looks very sorry and sometimes infuriates to the point of insanity!

Most different reasons, but most times is getting in ITM or money ladder, I always thinking before play, sometimes is a easy fold but I try to thinking what other player has or what he want to do. Its one of my way to take note about other players.

multi-tabling
bubbles
hollywooding like if you try to steal and someone 3bets, then take your time before folding to make it seem like you have to lay down a monster
figuring pot odds with lots of people already in the pot
internet porn/posting in strat/ netflix

These are pretty much the only reasons I can think of, the most likely and common being multi-tabling. If they do it on purpose every time, that is kinda rude but I give everyone the benefit of the doubt.
