Live bounty tournament so exact details might be a bit off but here it is.

I have about about 40k in chips with the blinds at 500/1000 with a big blind ante of 1000. Under the gun I look down at JJ so I raise to 2k.

Folds around to cutoff(~60k in chips) who calls, button(~60K in chips) calls, SB folds and BB shoves for about 6k.

What's my move? I think I misplayed this step but am not sure.

Fold?
Call?
Raise?
Shove?

After I get some answers I tell you all what I did and how it played out.

Thanks for the advice.

Shove it.
If you just call, then cutt-off and button will probably call..and you will end up in a 4-way pot.
If you shove - that would make other two players fold (probably), and you will isolate that one short stack.
Don't see any other option is good here.

call would be fair but you would play against many opponent I would go up to retire at least 1 or 2 more and so play a juicier boat if you complete your set luck greetings:thumpdown

I call and see the flop. Shove and you have a coin flip. If the flop is good then I shove after bb check. Then you put it all on the button to call or fold. Any way you play it its a gamble on the flop. If the flop is bad you fold when the bb bets with 34 bb left to play with.

Calling is perfectly fine, considering you may be against AK - QQ -KK-AA, but if the table is playing looser then raising to like 11,000 to try to isolate is the right play. It could go either way.

You should shove there. I would have bet more preflop but that’s not the case here. Shove to get rid of cutoff and button who are calling a min raise with just about any 2 hole cards. Big blind has 5 BB. If you lose 5BB, oh well, that’s poker.

Excellent value to call.
Raise/Shove (force button to fold) would require more info on cutoff & button.

It might not be the right move but in your position I would have shoved from the start. I think you maybe get one caller or it folds back around and you pick up the blinds.

I jam to iso with the all in. The pot is ~14.5K and you have 38K behind. A standard raise to 12K leaves you with 28K behind and puts you in an awkward spot facing a 4bet after commuting ~30% of your stack.

What value is there in calling and playing from OP here?

Shove to get the others to fold ( SB and BB ), your odds of winning the hnd go up.

I'd call. If no overs on flop i'd shove flop. There is very little reason to bluff in this hand from opponent so you cant check raise them and if they bet they have something.

40 Big Blinds is way to many to stack off with Jacks which when things get heated are ALWAYS flipping at best or crushed. I mean Q2s has 34.5% equity against you.

A shove would've been fine to get the other 2 player out of the pot.

The answer of course is "it depends".

You've been playing with CO, Button, and BB for some time I assume? Is CO capable of slow playing a monster from this position against these two players behind him? Is he capable of shoving light here if you call or shove? If so, you can call, shove, or fold, if not, shove is optimal. All of this, of course, depends on where the tourney is at on this hand - money bubble, you should have raised more, final table ITM, you should have shoved, limped, or planned on just this situation so that you could shove now.

Calling the bb is fine, risk to stack is limited to 6k.
If you 3bet and get called by 1, or both, others it's likely you lost the chips.
You could also shove, but potentially with 3 opponents, for sure <<50% chance to win.

Most times, because of your situation, I would shove. If it was the start of the tournament I would just call, and then act based on flop I get.

Thank you all for your input.

I tallied every thing up and it looks like it is 8 shoves, 5 calls and one or two raises.

To answer some questions before I post what happened.

It was middle of tourney...roughly 27 players left that started with about 50 I think.
I had only played about 5 or 6 hands at this table I think. I had gotten moved there so I don't really have any history on the players or what happened to BB stack and why he was so light.
