A 2.5 bb 3bet with AA at that blind level is like limping with aces. You get what you wager.

Ok, so for others who are not really reading the original post through - Everyone folded to the hero, and it's not like he can bet 5BBs and hope someone just calls or w/e!
You bet sizing should always be balanced so that it doesn't become readable. If you always bet 2.5BB and only bet 3+BB with AA then the entire table picks up on that and folds or sorts of hands that should have been there.

As for the gameplay, there isn't much you could have done differently. Bet flop is fine - a lot of people would opt to check here, but it shows so much weakness that every solid player will capitalize on that when in position.

Turn, I would personally check here, the only real hand that you beat here is some Tx that didn't complete the straight yet, and two pair hand (89) that is now counterfeited by the 2nd J.
Since you did make a bet, if you get called range is even narrower down to JX and TX, and a lot of made straights. If you got re-raised it is still a fold most likely.

River is a check-fold unfortunately.

Sorry, but ... what did you expect when you checked on the turn and river? If you bet on the flop, you need to bet on the turn. You showed your weakness and your rival took advantage of it. In addition, it would be strange to see another line from the side of the stack which is almost 4 times bigger than you. A number of poker coaches believe that if a blank card goes on the board, it means that your opponent probably does not have such a card. You do not have a hand history on BTN, and if you think that this is a strong opponent that can beat you post-flop, then you just had to bet all in, with AA on 35 bb.
Moreover, many experienced players deliberately bet all in on the river if they see the opponent’s check on the turn, the river, because they understand that this is the only way to steal a bank with 0 value on showdown.
