The theory versus practice debate, the so-called “mindset”, studying theory... but what about when you're actually playing and time is running out? How big is the gap between your A game and what you can actually do? I'm talking about us, mere apprentices, not professionals. I feel that when I review my tournaments. What could help me, or what do you do to really put into practice what you study?

Very good question, but the problem with believing that your studying a script not of your own to master to gain skills, for an interaction such as poker... You become a statistically, mathematically calculable entity amoungst the traffic. The A and B, Black Andy White ethos that there are 2 distinct constrasts of understanding the game prevents you from acquiring your goal. Poker when you play it is evolutionary instances... if we approach the same spots with an intention to go about it in a specific preordained manner, we haven’t evolved our game/thinking, we’ve merely been conditioned to follow suit... A schematic not of our own.... Text book/101

There isn’t a pendulum swing of contest in anything, it’s a sphere... an infinite orb of variable eventualities

It all depends on the thinking of the mind, if the player thinks for a long time, just before making a decision, there will be no sense, mind, intuition and the right tactics are the key to success.

Both Theory and practical are equally important to improve your game.

I noticed that the theory from some media players does not fit at all in some cases at micro-limits, at micro-limits you often meet such interesting players who just play by chance and there the game turns into a regular casino

mere apprentices needs practice more than theory IMO. Experience comes with practice. All the old school players didn't have theory at their time but they were legends.

I can to say by this question only an one: Theory is a good thing, of course... But I'm preffering more Practice!
Therefore I'm putting eventually on the first place Practice, Practice and Practice!.. "Practice makes perfectness!"

There is an abundance of information on the game of poker on the Internet these days. It's hard to choose what to study.

For beginners, I would advise you to start from the very basics - to study poker mathematics from classic books. And after that, a person himself will become able to distinguish high-quality materials for training from not very useful ones.

You need to learn not only from books and articles, but also use all available methods, such as working with poker programs, discussing hands on the forum, analyzing your own game in the tracker.

The optimal ratio of theory and practice is considered to be 3 hours of play for 1 hour of theory.

I think both options should be available to a person who plays poker without it, no way we should learn how to test it in practice and those things that will not work in practice will need to be edited and improved for this, there are people, that is, you will have to change it for yourself and for your strategy

Learning about theory and practice are important things to do. Depending on where you are in your poker journey and what you want to achieve should determine how much study you would want to do. At this time, I do a lot of study and practice into the game, but my play has not been as much. The reason why is I want to have a deeper understanding of the game. Over the last year I have learned a lot more than i could even imagine affected this game and I am still learning.

I am in a study/learning mode right now. I tend to go in swings of more study, then more playing, then more study, then more playing. When I study, I try to internalize the concepts. One thing I would like to do more of is to play some practice games trying some new concepts without risking real money. I also tend to study more when I am feeling less confident in my game. When I go back to playing live, I try to have 2-3 points from my study that I will keep in mind when playing. It helps me stay focused while also "just play my game" and having the belief that I know a lot about the game and just need to keep my emotions level so I can play my best.

That has happened to me a lot, but I think it's more like a matter of practice and more practice, of reviewing our games, correcting, I think that only the time you invest in practicing, reviewing and correcting errors will give you more and more experience, As they say: practice makes perfect.

I learn only from my own mistakes. Maybe it's not the smartest approach, but it's hard for me to find time to study the theory.
