Playing top pair low kicker in multiway pot

Not sure if this belongs in this section.

Essentially I had a hand today with me in the bb, with 84s. 5 limpers and I check through to the flop. It comes 877 rainbow and I have top pair low kicker. First to act, I check. Then we get a min raise with 2 callers and one fold. Action on me.


What's the play here? Even with top pair I folded here with my reasoning being that (ignoring backdoor straight) I have little chance of improving, especially against 3 opponents.

I think folding to a raise was fine but I don't know what the stack and pot sizes were. It was very possible you wouldn't have top pair after the turn, and with 3 other players and a pair on the board it seems risky to call. The best you could hope for on the turn would be an 8 but there are only two of those left, and even if you had a gutshot after the turn you still might not get the right pot odds.

Good fold, even if you have the best hand on the flop which isn't very likely, there aren't many good turn cards for your hand.
