PA pokerstars is offering their SCOOP series beginning March 17 through to April 3. This past week they began the first phase of several, to gain entry to the next phase for the prizes. So, I did play the first phase and was lucky enough to have finished it with 62.1 BB's going into the second phase. However, the second phase does not play out till April 2nd.

Given it's rare when I am playing a multi-day tournament, and there are a few weeks leading up to the next stage, what type of studying should I be doing leading up to the next phase to make that deep run? How should I prepare for this next phase?

You should look at what the game is going to play like on April 2nd. What is the blind structure? How many players are you expecting to play? What's the average stack size so far for those who made it through? Once you gather the info, you can come up with some possible strategies and review some theory on playing in that situation.

There will be lots of players left so your mid game MTT strat needs to be strong

Study your range charts- as you will drop to shorter stack play quickly if you do not pick up pots in an early hand -
play changes from 60 to 40 bb even just in UTG opens 60 bb we open A5s then A9s+ 40bb we open A3s+
we open 5% more hands utg at 40 HJ 7% more CO 10% more
so adapting our play in those late position opens alone is a strong study point

GTOwiazrd free version allows you to study 5 spot daily use that if you do not have the paid version
