I've seen myself playing 1 or 2hrs in a tournament starting with 10k in chips for example scrambling to 18k for someone to sit down with 10k and double up a couple of times in a few minutes which kinda hacks me off.

I dont like long late registration period and I usually avoid tournaments with very long late registration

I ALWAYS use late reg. simply because too many hours of poker downgrades my performance. It is up to the player when he registers, but except for very, VERY important tournaments - I always use late reg.

I like late registration, but not for a long time.

Bad. especially when its 3 hours in and the leaders on 100k plus at that point why even enter. Should be ten minutes late reg on all tournies ..

Very good if the buy-in is more expensive than 10 cents. And bad if it's free or cheap =D

But remember one important thing! If you are an early bird, then you have time to study your rivals before those who arrive late. And of course you have a higher chance of accumulating a large number of your chips in order to dominate the final stage.

I'd imagine that whenever i'm playing cardchat 888 events i basically take full adventage of late reg by joining in the last minute ... is it wise decision or not who cares

If you don’t feel comfortable, don’t do it! I expressly like to register in late registration phase tournaments. Most tournaments are deep stacks, so I think late regs have no risk!

If blinds time is slow then it can be a good thing. If its hyper turbo or turbo they are already much ahead in chips and you're simply at a huge disadvantage. I like to play it from the beggining though, find it much better

I like that some tournaments have late registration. The main thing is that it should not be too long. I think that half an hour or an hour is normal. But I do not like tournaments with late registration of 2 hours.

I've always played since the beginning of the tournament, but it can be tiring. Especially where the late registration is 2 hours. As this 2 hour period passes, my concentration drops. I started entering the tournament before the end of registration, and I can say that it is ok.I enter near the end of registration and I have enough chips to play. But, if they are turbo or hyper, I do not recommend. The stakes are already high, and you will have a hard time getting them.

I normally don't mind late registration, but when you combine with rebuys it can make it seem like a real uphill battle. Nothing worse than playing for 3 hours and finding yourself trailing a late reg with multiple rebuys.

I don't like late registration. I think registering soon is an advantage, you have more time to study your opponents and you can build your 'tight' or 'loose'' image correctly.

I like late registration specially werre the bllinds are slow. For instance in 40 minute levels, starting at 25/50 , with 15.000 entry level chips, if you enter in level 5, you save allmost 4 hours and you come in about 100 /200 with a huge amount of blinds. Especially if its a rebuy tourney, so that I avoid erly multiple rebuys.

Late registrations, in my opinion, are BS it's unfair to the players who have registered before the game started. It's a ploy by the site to generate more money for them. It's funny when they claim they use the added players money to increase the prize money if some do it's minimal

I prefer joining tournaments at the very beginning because it lets me study my opponents more.

personal enblo I find it very bad to enter a tournament late especially if it is for bounty. Since there are many first levels there are many fish and you have to take advantage

overall i would say its bad for the game. at most it should be 30min if needed, but definitely not hours upon hours like in some sites.

I am not a big fan of late registration. I will usually avoid joining a tournament any later than the third level. I'm not too fond of coming after the blinds have gotten up to the point where I'm starting off with a significant blind disadvantage that the rest of the table is going to be able exploit.

I usually use late registration to play step tournaments. In these, the range of awards is broader. So I enter with the mentality that I just have to qualify. And don't win the tournament. With that, I make 1 cent to become a 1 dollar ticket through two steps.

Late registration is not very good for me, because I am a passive player and I like to get the bankroll gradually. But aggressive players may well like it.

I love to catch last minutes of tournaments, works for me all the time. I love to play K.O. poker so at least i get my money back. Sometimes extra money also.

If is not to long late registration then i am joining tournament at beggining.

I believe that late registration is not an advantage. I speak from my own experience. You can go to late registration only if the level lasts about 15 minutes. Then yes. This is especially true for tournaments such as the SCOOP2020. Better to go at the very beginning of the tournament.

It depends on the tourney. You have some tourneys where a lot of seats are paid so I late register for them. I don't late register when I would have to play with 20 bb because it doesn't make any sense to me. When you late register and you have over 30 bb, that's good.

It depends on whether you are a good short stack player. When you late register you have to be willing to go all in early and often as you need 2-3 double ups to get up to an average stack (depending on how late you register). If you aren’t comfortable with this then don’t register late. A lot of people like to late register so they don’t waster hours and not cash.

It is not an advantage, it is an option that the poker room presents to you, I do not like registering late in tournaments and the truth that many times I am exasperated that the period of time is so long but it is part of the battle we must try to stay focused

I don't mind because lately I register in the very first levels of the tournament.
I used to late reg. later but I was ended to have a shallow stack and I was flipping for a good stack.

As many previous posters have already mentioned , if you reg early you will accumulate very useful information for your opponents which is nice.

I don't like it after a certain point. If I late reg and would have less than 25 blinds .
it would not give me too many options of how many hands I could raise and play through.

I don't like tournaments with late registration very much, but if there is a late registration for half an hour, there is nothing wrong with that. The blinds are not so big yet and you can enter the game quite productively. Also, I often like to see how many players are left in the tournament and in tournaments where late registration takes place for more than an hour, it makes me a little crazy because there are more and more people)

i only late register in mtts.

there are a lot of disadvantages to it, but also a lot of advantages. i am to use those advantages to my own, er, advantage and do well in microstakes mtts.

now, lets say you late register after 3 hours and start with 20 bbs and chip leader has 200 bbs.

Late registration is good if you didn't register in time for the tournament you wanted to play in.

For me, the difference is very simple. I hope to be the player with 200 big blinds and not the one with 20. If you're joining late that's obviously not possible. But also when you pick up a good hand, even a monster hand, you're far more likely to be called. And we all know that even a monster hand like A-A is not guaranteed to hold up.

Depend, if is a short late registration it's ok, but if is a long late i dont think fair.

I think that the first levels of a tournament are very important, the late registration forces you to play hands that maybe you shouldn't.

I don't advise late registration cause you'll not playing some hands and the blinds grow up quickely. Just register and wait for a premium hand the 5 first level and then go with you're strategy or normal play.

i apologize if my previous post wasn't clear.

basically, what i was saying is that whether you join in late for 20 big blinds or start from the beginning and end up with 20 big blinds in the later stages, you still need to adjust for your stack size. that's all late registering is, being able to adjust with a short stack properly. a lot of my success with late registering is being able to make the proper adjustments with a shorter stack, as well as running good and winning key flips, but that goes for any stage in an mtt.

It is not bad the late registration problem is when the time is too long, for me the late registration should be at least 30 minutes at most 45 minutes would be great

I usually do not look to register late but if I see a tournament that I like a lot and is in late registration I register for it because If I do not play it I have to wait one day to play it and time is money.... The good thing about late registration is that the blinds are higher and if you get a good hand you get chips quicker because of the high blinds... If you register late it means less playing hours and less tiredness from playing....

I get it. We do what we have to do. I'm not a big fan of late registration because of the disadvantage that it puts you at. On top of that, I think my attitude towards late registration may have been skewed by some of the reasons I've heard people give for preferring it, such as an inability maintain focus for a long enough duration to play good from the very beginning of a tourney to it's end.

Just this morning I had intentions of playing a Venom freeroll. Out of habit, I began checking my newsfeed as soon as I booted up, knowing that I had a few minutes before the start of the tourney. I was called away and it was probably close to half an hour before I returned. When I did, I continued scrolling through the news headlines. Suddenly, I remembered the tournament. I quickly abandoned my news feed and pulled up the ACR main lobby and began scrolling to find the tourney.

By the time I found it and clicked register, there was only one minute of late registration left. That meant that I would be starting with 12.5 BB. As it turned out, I ended up tripling up on the very first hand I was dealt. Just like that I was up to 39.5 BB and right in the thick of things. It didn't hurt any when I raised with Q-10 suited and ended up flopping the nut straight in the very next hand. That hand put me over 51 BB and pretty much guaranteed me winning a Step 1 ticket.

I began with big disadvantage, played accordingly and was able to quickly overcome that disadvantage. So I get it. You do what you have to. But of course this was a freeroll and circumstances kind forced me into that situation. Given the choice, I would rather have registered on time and played from the beginning of the tournament. I would never have registered for a buy in tournament in the last possible level. I don't understand why some players choose to. It can be a $20 tourney and with twenty levels of late registration and in the twentieth level there will be a flurry of registrations right down to the last minute. I would never willfully choose to start a tourney with that kind of disadvantage. But that's just me.

I dislike it. Because the amount of participants inscreases. Also I´m puntual. I can´t acept it.

I prefer to start the tournament on time. While the small blinds, you can familiarize yourself with the game of opponents and increase the stack.

I love late registration in knockout tournaments, because many will want to get a knockout for me and will call me with more loose cards and I will have a chance to double the chips.

i go for late registration but the earlier one is great too. it depends on your skills set. i often watch few tables, especially the top chips players for few minutes then i join, but it depends as i said by many factors that will make this comment look like a letter haha. but keepin it short you can go early and get in few hours a good amount of chips or it can be a bad move and terminate your chips in few hands and the same rule applies to late stage registration.
