I've been in this position before. Large lead in a thousand plus player MTT, next out 55th gets $56; 2nd place gets $1700 (1st 2600). I feel I could and should just go away and coast into 2nd. Am I wrong?

lmao. Methinks my heart is a negative EV player.
10.5 hours in this tourney and 12 hours today....and I'm out of red bull and vodka.

I wouldn't go away. I find it hard to get a good lead as I'm very nitty, but if I do, it's tough to get me off the top places and impossible to get me away from it. I wouldn't leave it.

I think you nailed the problem. I got the lead because I'm not nitty (or very good). Too bad we can't team up, I get the lead and you take it home. 12 hours now in this silly thing. I wish I had made coffee two hours ago but thought that would keep me up late, lol.

Obviously this is anecdotal but my best guess is if I had quit w 55 players left I would have finished about 7th. The extra 4 hours doubled my cash.
