If you're card dead, use that time to study how your opponents play. You can still be learning plenty about them, and if you remain card dead, hopefully learn enough to start making plays with a marginal holding. As you start getting blinded down, you should eventually hit the point where you should start opening up your range and shove into players. Study the game more, and you'll learn how to be able to play even when you're card dead.
