Hi, it's been a few years since I took online poker seriously, but am getting back in the game and would like a current book that can help me get up to speed with 2018 online poker. Does anyone have any recommendations? Preferably not one that just has page upon page of hand scenarios, but a look at general strategy for NLHE cash, SnG's and MTT's.

Thanks!

None! Books are outdated. Poker is constantly evolving and you learn as you go. Currently the best resources are online training programs if you're really looking to buy something for learning. That would be much more effective than an old book. Though I find it more enjoyable to learn at my own pace.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Do you have any specific suggestions or links?

Suggestions would be youtube or twitch streams which are free. If you really want to pay (which I wouldn't recommend unless you consistently play high stakes with sharks) then I'd go with RaiseYourEdge.

Poker has evolved a lot, no book is going to serve you for these times, the best way according to my criteria, would be to watch videos of strategies, in Youtube there are many, another way would be to try an academy or banking teams, while they place you money to play, they will help you along the way to improve your game with coaches / players experience

Don’t listen to the naysayers, the books are cheap, there written by some of the best players to ever play. More players should write, for example, Craig Casino, his story and what he is doing is beyond amazing. Google him. I asked him to write a book, nothing yet
Buy a book Pat

Totally agree. Though I haven't read anything recent I feel books help me to learn how to make correct decisions at the table as opposed to just what to do in certain situations.

I found Collin Moshman's Sit 'n Go Strategy (first published 2007) very helpful when I read it this year. I'm currently reading Harrington on Holdem, a very well known and highly recommended series that I definitely believe is useful today. Next I think I'm gonna go further back to Sklansky's Theory of Poker; I'm led to believe it's timeless and rather good.

Buy a book. Happy learning.

In no particular order.

Excelling at No Limit Hold'Em - Jonathan Little

The Tao of Poker - Larry W. Phillips
Elements of Poker - Tommy Angelo
The Raiser's Edge - Bertrand Grospellier (Elky)
Applications of No‑Limit Hold 'em - Matthew Janda

I would say that list is the best of the best, for today's game.

I think it's called "according to Doyle"

it's a quick read about his playing (and touring all over to find games) loooong looong before holdem was popular. great stories and great insight to some of his thinking, reading players etc
