Hello pals,

I'm going to play party poker Main Event this Sunday. Biggest tournament I've ever played and just the second High Stakes MTT I've played. I was studying the blind structure on this thing and noticed that at level 21, the blind structure changes from 15 minutes per level to 20 minutes per level (starting stack to blind ratio at this level is 6.25).

How much this should impact my starting strategy? Does the value of each chip goes up or down after the level time change? How should this affect my strategy on the levels right before the level time change? How should this affect my strategy right after the level time change? Should I play looser or tighter before the level time change? How this should affect mid/short stack play before and after level 21?

Thanks, pals.

I have never played in a time change tournament myself. With that being said I wouldn't play any different than I normally would. I think time only affects my play if its a shorter time such as a turbo. I will take more risk with my chips and looser hand-range in a turbo or sit-n-go than a longer structured tournament. I'm sitting back and waiting for big cards and looking for advantage points I can exploit. Time increasing would not affect my play at all, only stack sizes and positional situations. But I am more of a straight forward player. Plus you're talking about being 5 hours into a tournament. I guess you consider yourself pretty good if you're thinking you will even reach level 21. Best of skill to you.

Yeah, I'm generally on the laggier side of spectrum and pushing for minor equity edges against perceived ranges so... less straightforward than you. Regarding individual ability, I'm probably on the weakest side of the field, which makes blind structure studying and preparating even more important
