Question from beginning tournament player:
Playing in microstakes tournament well into tourney with avg stack around 30 BB. I am UTG+1 with 40 BB and RFI with :as4: :8s4: to 2.5 BB, it folds around to the CO who shoves his entire 20 BB stack. Everyone else folds.

What should I have done? (I folded)

Fold. I would not call here with less than AQ, and even that is kind of marginal.

Fundiver is right that you should fold here.

In spots like this, put yourself in your opponent's shoes. What hands would you shove if you were him? The range you give will likely be a fairly strong one and not have many hands like A3s or A7o.

So in general, if you call here, you're hoping that he has a hand like KJs or T9s. Sometimes he will, but too often he'll have you crushed with a high ace or high pair and the odds aren't good enough to make the call.

Nice job making the right play in this hand!
