Narrowing Ranges In Hyper Turbo Poker Part I - YouTube

Another quality video, Ryan! Checking back on a dry flop is working wonders for this guy. Adding to my arsenal. Much appreciated :)

Break'n It Down With Mattraq1 - Session 1 Part 2

In a new format for instructional poker videos, http://www.husng.com 's Mattraq1 delivers a hand analysis in two parts. In the first part, Matt presented an interesting hand with minimal comment, instead leaving us with a list of talking points in order to challenge us to analyze the hand on our own. Posted here now is the second part, the part that contains Matt's analysis. Matt starts the video by discussing what he was thinking about the hand at the time that he played it, and then continues with a very thorough and detailed investigation that he performed after the fact.
Viewers who missed the first video in this session may wish to visit that first, which they can find posted earlier in this thread in post #122.

In this new series of videos for http://www.husng.com, veteran video author Faarcyde plays $35 HUSNG hyper turbos on FullTilt against an opponent who has a static strategy and does not make many adjustments. This video, the second in the series, has the reviews of games 3 and 4. In these reviews, Faarcyde continues to develop and execute his strategy for exploiting this opponent, and also points out some of the ways in which this strategy differs from his usual play.

Here is an interview with Brazillian heads up grinder Helio "hneves182" Neves - http://www.husng.com/content/interview-helio-hneves182-neves-photos-links-graphs-all-time-stats

This is a particularly good interview for those of you that plan to make it to the $30-100 buyin levels (he plays mainly $60-100s). Most of the attention and interviews are with guys that play $500-5ks, and what often is lost in some of these interviews (to the audience) is that you can make a very solid living in most parts of the world playing far smaller stakes (often with smaller stress and less time commitment needed to have success).

In short, your average opponent is just far weaker at these levels (regs in particular), so there isn't as much pressure or constant improvement needed to have success.

This interview is also quite comprehensive, covers a lot of ground, so give it a read and let me know what you think.

We're doing weekly interviews now, so I'll keep letting you know when we have a new one.

Subbed.
Just out of interest how important is the expected EV line when playing hyper/super husng. I've just gone broke with my last few dollars on FT (not where I usually play so thought I use them up playing supers). Now I took my $5 up to $15 and have now gone bust, not a biggie and I know variance is a killer in these games but this is my graph for 500 games (tiny sample I know). I can handle the flips but the 65/35 70/30 80/20 I'm losing is starting to sting.

I know Ryan is the guru on here so in truth how bad a run can one expect to hit. What has yours been.

I just want to add that I had pretty much left poker as cash was becoming boring, tournaments are heart breaking. But these games have re-ignited my poker passion just need to win a few.

Ryan I'll be looking into one of HUSNG.com packages as long I don't throw my laptop out of the window. :D

Hey there, sorry about the bad luck recently. I always try to take bad luck moments to double down and work harder so that by the time I'm running better, I'm that much stronger of a player.

As for what type of under EV you can experience, it can get rough at times. You could see 50-100 buyins below EV.

The good news, though, is that one game of hypers is only 3 minutes or so on average, meaning you can play tons of games in a short amount of time and your downswing can go away quickly.

I was once down around 10k in $200-350 buyin super turbos back on Full Tilt. I ended up winning around 18 in a row during a session vs one single player and making back so much of my money in just a simple 2 hour session.

So things can change really quickly in this game, it's best to just focus on your own decision making and try to make the best play every single step of the way and not let emotions get in the way of finding the correct answer to each spot.

About EV, it's not perfect (there's nothing that says we're unlucky bc we ran into the top of an opponent's range, for example if we have KK and our opponent has AA, our expectation is pretty low, meaning we expect to lose, but if we reversed the cards we were dealt our opponent would obviously get it in in a hyper with KK with a smile on his face...). You can extend this theory (card/hand distribution) to the flop, what sort of flops are we getting compared to our opponent? Unfortunately, we can't really ever know if our opponent is getting worse flops or turns or rivers than us, bc we don't know his hand and exact strategy every step of the way (it's too hard to even accurately tell if we are running bad in many situations too).

All that said, EV is better than results, it removes some (small) element of luck from the results on average I believe, making it better to pay attention to than your results.

In reality, you really just want to focus on always improving, especially at the smaller stakes games.

Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions, thoughts or updates.

Hey Ryan Thanks for the response a few posts back, I've decided to use my stars bankroll to play the hypers husng taking it steady at 1.50 level as I've spent 6 months building my roll up to $298 from $50 playing 6 max cash(got sick of griding cash). I'm sticking to a 100 bi bankroll. So good luck me and cheers for posting the vids, I'm working hard to improve so fingers crossed it wii pay off and my graph will turn around.
