Anyone that has played tournament poker has faced this - Deep in a tournament a player down to a few BB's pushes - You and another player calls. You both have good size stacks so this pot won't make or break you. Your holding AJd and the flop comes As Jh 6c. You have top 2 pair.

Do you fire to take out other player or do you check it down to increase odds that one of you will take out all-in?

Last time I was at the casino I fired - immediately I could see everyone's faces and knew everyone was pissed. Luckily I won the pot -

Is it always the best strategy to check all the way to increase odds of knocking out all-in?

Place bets. In poker there is no other option to win.

Always bet out for value if you think you can, the only exception to this is when you're on the bubble in satelites (so when everyone earns the same prize). Then checking it down gives you the best chance to win (unless you got the absolute nuts ofcourse then checking it down might result in a penalty), otherwise this is a good spot for a valuebet indeed.

This is an unspoken common curtesy to check it down to make sure the other player is taken out. If you had bet and the all-In won but the other player would have beaten them but folded to your bet then it's just bad juju. I have noticed that on-line poker that players will bet and don't seem aware of this helpful tip.
However if you have the nuts then by all means bet. You're there to win and not play Mr. nice guy.
Moral of the story? Do what you feel is right. Just remember to have the best hand though.

You have a good flop. You must raise, but dont do use very big size! You must get the money of 2nd player.

There is this unwritten rule of players checking it down when someone is all-in, especially if it means a bump in the pay ladder.

In this hand, I'd bet out for value with my 2 pair. If the other player still in has an A or a weaker 2 pair, then getting value from them is good for you. Plus, theres the chance you can stack them as well if they play back at you.

If the board was a something like K 6 2, then betting out makes no sense and you're better off just checking it down as it increases the chance of all-in busting out having to play against 2 players instead of one.

Thank you for the good advice, I appreciate it -

Funny how people comment on things they are not at all familiar with

Two pairs not the best hand to limp here, opponents may have KQ or other broadway connectors, at least one of them may have pocket pair which can strength up to set on later streets, and looking by theirs actions on pre-flop, most likely, such cards they have. So if befor your move thems just make check, you must bet.

why does everyone seem to be so gung-ho about going all in? Just bet or call, unless you're splitting the winnings with another player, then don't worry about teaming up on somebody else

Check Down or Fire

Another tough one. Given the dynamic I would check to the turn and if I still thought I was ahead fire a 3-4x bet. If someone rides along you have options. I would check if someone called my turn bet.
